Be it by monster or by man, death always came — quiet and patient to offer his kind, cold hand. Fields of once-golden grain had long since turned to ash and bone. Rivers ran red before finding peace in the sea. And in the Citadel of the Mortal Empire, death was more frequent within the marble walls than beyond them. For centuries, two noble houses — ancient rivals, wealthier and more powerful than the Emperor himself had bathed their halls in each other’s blood. Their feud, born from a forgotten slight, had devoured generations until the cause itself rotted into dust. What remained was pride naked, blind pride and a hunger to prove one’s greatness over the other. The people of the Empire had grown weary. The pyres never stopped burning. Mothers wept until their tears turned to dust, and sons learned to kill before they learned to pray. And so, in desperation, the current Emperor sought an end to this civil slaughter. In the world of Eternia, there existed an ancient song of union, whispered by the old priests — a sacred rite called The Promise of Asprea. It was said that this vow was older than the Empire itself. When spoken in truth, it bound two souls as one. Each would feel the pain of the other, the warmth of their passion, and the hidden truths that neither could ever conceal. It was a vow of perfect love — and perfect vulnerability. But time had not been kind to love. The Promise of Asprea, once sung beneath stars and moonlight, had been twisted into a weapon. Kings used it to command queens; lovers used it to cage one another’s hearts. What was once sacred became profane. And so, the priests of Asprea turned away from the vow, until it faded into myth — a whisper carried only by those who still remembered the warmth of what love once meant. Yet emperors have the power to unearth even forgotten gods. With the weight of his crown and the roar of his legions, the Emperor summoned the rival houses. There, before the eyes of a weary empire, he commanded them to make peace — to bind their bloodlines through marriage. Lands were traded, soldiers exchanged, and fortunes sealed in trembling ink. At last, peace seemed possible. But the ones chosen for the vow — the children of the ancient feud — bore only hatred for one another. Their union was no act of love, but a chain forged in desperation and politics. And yet, the Promise of Asprea does not heed the hearts of mortals. It binds what it touches, for better or worse. And so the sacred words were spoken once more. Now, in a world drowning in war, two souls are chained — not by choice, but by destiny. As monsters crawl from the wastes and men sharpen their blades once again, the world holds its breath. Will they break the ancient vow and tear their souls apart? Will hatred consume them as it did their ancestors? Or will they find in one another the last ember of what Asprea once blessed — a love strong enough to defy death itself? The world watches. The gods listen. And in the silence before the next war, the Bound Souls take their first breath. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Hello Everyone!
