Thinking upon the previous, recent experiences with Alaira made Coco's impressions of the beastly elf change somewhat. She was still rather blunt and hostile, yet she had changed. Was that even possible? To change so much from dusk to dawn? Or was Alaira just playing with her? It didn't matter now, anyway. Whether Alaira was truthful or not was a topic that would have to wait until the next dawn, as agreed between the two of them. After the encounter, Coco had found herself wandering aimlessly through the halls. She stopped over by some known places and eavesdropped a little bit, just because she was curious. Unfortunately for her, she could hear nothing worth noting. So the seconds and minutes passed by, until Coco grew tired of the oppressive qualities of the enclosed building and decided to take a walk outside. That was when she noticed a familiar scent in the air-- Mar. The half-snake human she had met last night! Though Coco could not hear her, likely due to being out of range, so she simply followed the scent to the best of her abilities, until a single sound broke the silence that the College's courtyard had been submerged in. Scales rubbing together. As soft as it was, it was enough to hint at where Mar was, and Coco quickly clapped her hands together and cheerily, yelled. "Mar!" Mar had been frustrated. She had been on her way to the Gates, yet it seemed she had gotten there just when they closed after opening for the first time that morning. Her head turned skywards as she peered over the obstruction in her way. It seemed, unlike yesterday, they were to stay close until a teacher or another staff member of higher rank ordered otherwise. Mar found this rather inconvenient because it prevented her hunting fresh meat. Her tail coiled underneath enough to rub the scales over and over, just like someone wringing their hands together, while she tried to reason a way out. She had barely noticed the clapping sound, her body tensed and instantly reacted to the loud voice when Coco yelled. Her hands tightened about the scythe, middle twisted to bring it across her side when she turned to face the source. It was instinct and impulsive reaction to loud sounds. The blade swept low and aimed to severe the torso before Mar could realize who had called her name in the first place. The Naga's eyes widened, her scent shifted to fear and confusion, but she couldn't stop the momentum. She expected to hear some form of pain then feel a wetness splatter over her. It never happened. In moments, the grass beneath Coco's feet had sprang into life. It shot up and grass blades wove together, their interlocking became a dense, green wall which now stood between the scythe and Coco. It held tightly and soild enough to prevent the weapon's blade from cutting it, even forced the Naga back with a slightly concern look. "I think that was a close one..." Came a familar voice, followed by a rather familar scent Coco would realize right off the bat. Shortly after. Rathel emerged onto the scene and frew closer to the pair. The moment that Coco heard the swing of the scythe, she froze, still as a tree as her leaves puffed out and quivered lightly. Her mind shut down as she waited for the scythe to hurt her--But it never reached her. Slowly, she recovered her senses, and a small buzzing sound was emitted from her necklace, allowing her to slowly lift a hand to graze the thick protective wall of grass that had just saved her life. The scythe had cut deeply into it, almost halfway through, but once Mar removed it from the grass wall, Coco quickly embraced the thin, strong leaves. But the wall slowly shrinked back to its actual form--Meaningless grass on the ground, among a thousand others just like them. For a moment, shaken, Coco knelt down and tried to single out the brave blades of grass. But another thing caught her attention. The scent of heavy, fertile soil. "Rathel!" Coco said in excitement, quickly running towards the plant at full speed to wrap her arms around his neck in a warm embrace. "You just saved my life, didn't you?" She asked, nuzzling her head against Rathel. She wasted no time, though, and directed her speech towards Mar.. "I didn't know you were that jumpy, Mar. I'm sorry, I won't do it again, I promise!" The Naga placed her scythe down, her weapon back at its resting position. "It would be ideal." Mar said as she watched Coco hug the demon, there seemed to be some pleasure in the act which she thought best not to understand. Her head returned to the matter of the gate while she tried to figure out how to by pass it. Rathel, on the other hand, was glad Mar's attack had only been instinctive yet he distinctively remembered something. Khan had asked both Tyrael and Uicle to keep an eye on the aggressive Naga after her threat towards the one called Xyden. Now Rathel had a feeling at least Uicle would've stuck some sort of creature to stalk the Naga and prevent this, but what had happened? A question he fully intended to ask Khan himself when the demon got a chance. Instead he focused on the tightness around his neck from Coco, his eyes shifted down and scent grew sweeter from the hug. "Yes. It's part of my job as a demon bound to the Headmaster and it was my pleasure. I hope you've not gotten hurt before I could react, do we need to take a trip to Lucilia or another Herbamancer." "I'm fine," Coco mentioned as she unwrapped her arms from Rathel's neck, "thanks to your friends of grass." Though Rathel was certainly a good demon to have around, and she wanted to spend some time just hanging out with him, she knew she had to do other stuff right now. Namely, discover why Mar was in front of the College Gates and why she was so jumpy. So, after patting Rathel a few times and relaying a bit of happiness via scent to him, she walked over to Mar, with her hands lifted in a peaceful manner. "Why are you out here, Mar? Don't you eat like the other fleshlings eat?" She said in a quiet, soft tone so as not to alarm Mar any more than necessary. For a moment or two, Mar ignored her then her face turned to address Coco. She knew the demon was eyeing her and seemed ready to ensure a repeat of the last reaction didn't happen again. Her knuckles loosened as she answered the creature in her usual short manner. "Yes but I only eat once a month and I would rather catch my own food then accept charity if I am able." "Food fought is satisfying." Her eyes started to turn away when another voice caught her attention: Tyrael's. The deep greeting and image of the demon, even if she found it odd he was hauling a couch, came into view. She merely shrugged it off to focus on the point he was here. "Yes but I can't due to the Gate being closed." Tyrael came onto the odd scene, at first only noting Mar, but than found Khan's demon and Coco from before. They seemed to have been talking to Mar, making Tyrael wonder if he came in at an awkward moment. Not that it really mattered to him; he needed to get rid of his couch somehow. "Students are not allowed out of the college area until the afternoon. A strange law by the college, and one that I find pointless. Do you want this couch?" Tyrael set the comfy chair down, taking care not to activate any of it's devices knowing the chaos it somehow did last night. Not that it stopped him from reclining in the chair, taking note that even for him it was quite relaxing. Coco listened to the two beings exchange words and perked up lightly once Tyrael offered Mar the couch he had been carrying. Why would anyone want to give away such a thing? Coco walked over to Tyrael and felt the couch's soft texture with her hands, avoiding laying a finger on Tyrael's body of course, until she nodded to herself. "It does feel very comfortable for fleshlings, Mar, you should take it." Coco said, pushing a bit into the couch to entertain herself with its slightly fluffly qualities. Mar, due to her current frustration with the rule, found herself agreeing with Tyrael up until the question about the couch. Her eyebrow raised at him for asking such a thing, namely since she wasn’t human and even the Naga only sparsely decorated their dens. Why would he offer a such a thing? To use herself, she had little use for it. Althalus however might've enjoyed the comfort though currently it was his own fault for picking her room instead of one of his own. "It means I don't eat until afternoon then. Not a pleasant notion but there's no other choice." Her eyes narrowed upon the thing with dislike and continued, to answer both Tyrael and Coco. "As for the couch, even if it's comfortable, I doubt you would be able to get it underground where my room is. Besides that, I've little need for it as I only sleep there. Why would I have the need to decorate it with something so large?" Tyrael shrugged his shoulders to Mar's own question. He honestly didn't know, and wasn't about to try to make up an answer for her. So he decided to drop the subject about the couch for now. "There is some time before the first of classes. If you want to hunt, I will allow it." Normally he tries not to show any favortism since he was a teacher, but at the same time if he really wanted to do something, even if it's for someone else, he's going to do it anyways. Besides that it's been a while since he had gone out to hunt, and couldn't do so in the last few days since he had to manage the demons setting up for the opening ceremony. "What do you feel like eating? Animals? Or monsters?" They would have to go west if she wanted just game animals, dear, quail, so forth. But if she wanted something that would put up a fight, they'd have to head south, towards the orc lands. If they're lucky, none of the inhabitants would have chased anything into their lands; the prey would be weaken by then, and it was rude to steal another hunter's mark. The Naga wasn't surprised when he didn't answer as she didn't need one, merely to make him realize she hadn't a use for the crouch.Mar's eyes, however, seemed to flicker with excitment when Tyrael had spoken about hunting. It had been a while since they hunted something together, something she secretly missed, and now a chance had presented itself. She intended to take it. "I'm not fond of easy food. Besides, the more challenging the animal, then better the meal." Mar answered simply, then to make it more clear. "Monsters will be best, taste less timid." Rathel, his eyes turned to Tyrael, seemed to like the idea even less as his tone made it very clear. Despite that, the Demon would have little say because Tyrael was a teacher and if he was honest with himself, Mar was likely the safest with the Fallen Orc then alone. "Since you two seem fixed on your task, something I'm not sure is a good idea, then would you two mind if I ask if Coco would accompany me? Hunting can be rather dangerous." He looked to Coco, his scent strong and potent to make her understand he really wanted her to come with him. Rathel only hoped she understood it well enough, like the other night. The talk of hunting and meals, while mostly foreign to Coco, was very interesting. She knew of carnivorous animals, mostly primitive beings who ate others' flesh raw. But actually intelligent fleshlings didn't do that, apparently. Apart from most of them being omnivorous, they also cooked the things they ate. In part, she wanted to follow Coco and Tyrael on their hunting trip, just to see if Mar would swallow her prey whole, like snakes did, and to hear Tyrael's reaction to such an scene. Rathel, though, seemed to think differently. He seemed repulsed by the idea of going out there to hunt a monster, and wished instead to take her with him, a request that Coco accepted as quickly as he let it be known. "I can stay with you, Rathel. Is hunting really that dangerous?" She asked as she walked over to his side and inclined her head up towards his. "Are you scared of hunting?" Rathel merely smiled at her questions. "No, Coco, rather I try to stick to College rules as Khan wants me to. Hunting can result in a few injuries, depending on the animal they are hunting," He continued to answer her questions as he started to lead her away, his mind already made a mental note to send Khan the notice Tyrael and a student had left the College to hunt.
