“Take good care of it, alright?” He could get another one, sure, but this one had been a gift from his younger brother. He’d rather not see it lost or damaged, even on accident. The hundi’s compliment had him grinning ear from ear, and he hopped up once, unable to contain his joy. It might have been Renard’s approval that prompted him to say something to the paladin. “He likes nicknames, Rylia,” he pointed out needlessly. “Maybe we should think up a good one for you, Renard?” He joked lightly, a soft smile on his lips. “I’m not good at this kind of thing, though…and it might be embarrassing to call you Hero, huh?” His cheeks reddened as he chuckled awkwardly. The group’s plan decided on, they started moving towards the fort. As they progressed deeper into the ruin’s surroundings, more and more evidence of goblins cropped up: broken plates, cups, and pitchers, discarded animal bone, torn up clothing, and a few warning pikes. The smells strengthened, a distinct sharp tang, earthy musk, and decaying leftovers mix that would have turned his stomach had he not been used to such by now. Adventuring could be filthy, and goblins were far from the worst on the list as far as that was concerned. As they neared the fort, Eustace drifted to the back. He was ready to create an area of light around them as soon as they were close enough to the entrance to do so. No need to trip over a fallen beam on the way in or anything like that. Palm drifting to the hilt of his sheathed rapier, the noble shifted, walking sideways. He’d turn every now and then, helping cover the flanks and backside. Further in, he knew it’d be good to keep an eye on the path directly behind them, too – though he wasn’t as stupid as to walk backwards all the time. Just the occasional gander to check up no one had snuck up on them should do. Expecting trouble and ready as could be, Eustace proceeded into the fort with the others.
