About Lycanthropy: I've been thinking that a man becomes a werewolf when he is subject to an ancient curse - one that forces him to share his body with a vengeful animal spirit. Sometimes the conditions for the curse come about naturally, almost as a matter of fate. Others are born into the curse, for once it has taken hold, its effects are hereditary. Sharing a body with the animal spirit grants greatly enhanced perception, and a surplus of vitality. Bearers of the curse are healthy individuals, and due to its effects, their natural lifespan is roughly doubled. Werewolf families tend to keep large private hunting grounds to try and contain the evidence of their transformations. Those less fortunate might live on the run, haunted by their sins or dogged by investigators. That might give you some things to consider as you think about a character.
Be wary of Irish Saints; at least two have supposedly cursed people to be werewolves o_OU although historically werewolves have also had a more mixed reputation in the region, so, who knows what to expect?
