[indent]Welcome to Gotham County, West Virginia. Situated in the Appalachian Mountains, Gotham is without a doubt the worst county in the United States. Nearly all of its people are well below the poverty line. The once prosperous mining community has been slowly wilting each passing decade as the mines produce less and less coal. Another other industry left the county a decade earlier thanks to cheap overseas labor. With no jobs, the unemployment rate continuously hovers around 20%. Crime and vice have become Gotham’s chief export. People from all across the state and nearby Pennsylvania flock to the county to have a good time. Drugs, gambling, violence, and prostitution all have become rampant in a county of only 25,000 people.

This backwoods cesspool is filled with crooked politicians, bent sheriff's deputies, meth tweakers, dope fiends, and peckerwood redneck drug dealers. On one side of the line is Rupert Thorne, the undisputed kingpin of Pickett. Anything that goes on in Gotham does so with his consent. On the other side is Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Gordon, a recent transplant to Gotham from Chicago. As Thorne and Pittsburgh mobster Carmine Falcone enter into a new alliance, Gordon begins a war against all crime and corruption in the county. As the two begin to butt heads, a third party enters the mix: Dr. Bruce Wayne returns back home after almost twenty years away and discovers the county has changed very little. 

Lately rumors have begun to filter through the county about sightings of a creature. Giant leather wings, sharp talons, and pointy ears. While gang war threatens to tear Gotham County apart, The Batman of Gotham begins his reign of terror. [/indent]
