Virgil's physiology was altered by a mutant-genetic explosion which caused him to adapt unusual powers. Due to this his body can generate raw electromagnetic energy, which he has learned to manipulate, control and enhance.

Virgil can sense sources of electromagnetic energy or objects that can be affected by it such as underground water pipes. With this ability he can magnetize and demagnetize metals, generate electromagnetic fields and barriers, cause himself and other things or people to levitate, fix or operate any electronic device, and become a human radio. His field also provides him with significant mental resistance against hypnosis, mind control, and telepathic detection.

Virgil can manipulate and even become electricity though the latter is unknown for now and would require strenuous effort.

Virgil learned how to fight from his father who's a former marine, but he told him not to use what he learned at school against his bullies. He always preferred for him to avoid fights if he could. He didn't say anything about not using his skills against criminals.

Virgil's a bit too smart for his own good. He applies himself well in school, but he can't seem to control his smart mouth and his mouth got him into a lot of trouble with his bully, Frank.

Here I'm combining influence from both the show and the comics to create a beautiful story with the character by exploring his journey from zero to hero and how this big event drastically changed his world and the lives of the people he cares about.
