She is a case steady of monochrome, in more ways than one. Fair skin, pale silver hair, and eyes the color of an overcast winter sky, she looks exceptionally different from either of her parents. Her neutral deadpan expression seems almost locked on her face, only shifting meaningfully in extreme circumstances. And then finally comes the most extreme aspect of her appearance: the crystal lesions that pepper the upper parts of her legs, an example of a rare case of Makai sickness not immediately fatal that is slowly crystallizing her body and causing her significant pain, only somewhat alleviated by the medication and painkillers. Lineage 11th Generation Type Soul Substantializer Power Wrench Space - The ability to contort and distort reality itself. Amane can shear rifts in space; warp and bend it in impossible ways; twist and invert it inside of a monster; create 'bubbles' of space that nobody else can enter or leave. It doesn't have much of an effective range, but distortion of reality is still a powerful ability, to be sure. She does have an additional wrinkle to her: she cannot use her 'ghost' for physical enhancement like any other Soul Substantializer can. Because of the lack of increased durability, she uses her powers defensively instead; increasing the density of space around her to ward off blows, or opening rifts in space to swallow projectiles, and so on and so forth. Amane, then, is something of an anomaly: a black sheep and black stain among and upon the reputation of the Tsuzunos. But it wasn't always so. When she was a child, she was doted on as part of the grand Tsuzuno tradition, coddled for the taken-for-granted Beast Blood magus she would be. When her Type emerged, though, her family grew slightly cooler. They were a family of Beast Bloods, so a Soul Substantializer emerging out of absolutely nowhere was a noteworthy occasion. But though she was treated more coldly, she wasn't ostracized yet. Not until she finished a second Makai, when she was struck with intense misfortune and took Makai sickness exceptionally early in her career. "Only two Makai and you're reduced to THIS? Are you certain that you're our daughter with this...humiliation upon you?" "We have a reputation to uphold, girl!" She withdrew from her family, doing her best not to meet their eyes. This was when her general social ineptitude developed into completely closing herself off, rarely expressing emotion at all. Until she simply couldn't stand it anymore. She showed up the next night at the Tasogare headquarters, soaked from the pouring rain, and took up residence in a small dorm close to medical. She doesn't speak of what happened, not to anyone, if she can help it. There are numerous factors that contribute to the wrongness. She was never the most emotive of children to begin with. Adding chronic pain certainly didn't help. But the thing that truly wrecked her emotional range was how she was treated by her family; closing herself away until she stopped emoting almost entirely. Or perhaps it's better to say expressive range. Amane experiences emotions like everyone else. She becomes intensely happy when something delightful happens; tremendously sad when something upsets her; deeply furious when she's struck by something that prompts her anger. Most of all, she is deeply affected by how she was treated by her family in her final days of living with them. After all, when you're told something often enough, you might start to believe it, and so she feels like a failure. Her emotions themselves rage beneath her calm surface just as anyone else's. The only fatality is how she shows them. And so instead, she chooses to express them in a different way. Discontent is expressed physically, with flicks to the forehead and punches to the shoulder, among other things. But more notable is the way she expresses happiness and friendship: with candy. When someone gains some form of affection, she'll gift them candy now and then. It's how she shows she cares. She's also a bit of a candy fiend herself; the bags of candy in her room aren't solely for handing out, and finding her not sucking on a lollipop or hard candy is rather rare indeed. ...Except grape. She can't stand grape-flavored candy. And as a final effect of her family's treatment of her: even if she won't show it, she is terrified of the Tsuzuno family and on the occasion one appears, she reverts back to her behavior in her last days at home and takes EVERY opportunity to seclude herself away from them, and any progress she's made coming out of her shell may well be undone. Sure, she was never the most expressive. But she could smile and laugh. She could frown. She could cry. She wasn't this. And it's all the Makai sickness' fault. The subsequent rejection from her family is the reason why she can't show emotion. The reason she's so socially inept. The reason she's a failure. And so, though as far as she or the doctors know it is incurable to the highest degree, she doesn't care. She is GOING to find a way to get this out of her. She has to. She has to. (Or she won't because it's incurable, and she'll simply pass through the stages of grief until she reaches acceptance. Remains to be seen, really.)
