He’s also quite hairy, if you hadn’t noticed, but it appears to be mostly well managed even if a bit wild. Yes he does indeed have a tail and sometimes he’ll hold stuff with it. His golden eyes are not contacts but his true eye color. His teeth, if you look at them, are more monkey-like in nature than a typical human set, with particularly large canines. His voice resembles Will Yun Lee. He is strong, agile, solidly durable, and has accelerated healing. Yang also seems to have some resistance to magical and mental effects. Monkey See, Monkey Do - Yang has the capability to copy any humanoid movement after seeing it once. Due to this power, in his chosen field, he displays a prodigious mastery beyond his years in different forms of hand-to-hand combat. Essentially, anything you’ve seen in an old kung fu movie that requires skill, Yang can probably do it. The Ruyi Jingu Bang - As stated on the tag at the antique store he stole it (back?) from, it is the staff that belonged to the original Monkey King. When Yang has it on his person, he claims can hear Sun Wukong’s voice. The Old World Monkey is supposedly like a coach to him, offering both wisdom and witticism. It appears to be the real deal, as it’s seemingly indestructible. He can use it to block most types of projectiles. It is currently about six feet long but is capable of shrinking to the size of a flashlight for easy storage. It was only after Yang claimed the staff that some of his other abilities started to develop. See No Evil, Hear No Evil - Super-Senses. As what’s surely a result of his physiology, he has a heightened, animalistic sense of touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. This is coupled with a sixth-sense to detect supernatural, paranormal, or magical energy. This would enable him to help distinguish if certain abilities, superhumans, or effects are magically inclined in some way. The Skywalker - As recently as a couple weeks ago, he learned how to summon a cloud to transport him. When it forms, it comes to roughly four cubic feet on average; large enough for him to sit and stand on. It is dense enough that an average person could feel the difference in air pressure, but it is not solid to the touch. It can lift him and whatever he’s holding. With it Yang can fly fairly quickly in open air. He still has a lot of growing to do as well as understanding some of his powers. Yang is strong and durable but there are plenty of metahumans out there who are stronger. His resistances don’t make him immune and can be overtaxed. He doesn’t have much experience using his cloud, and he doesn’t have his flight license yet. He can fly with it but if he loses focus, it will dissipate. He also can’t figure out how to use it to hold anything other than his staff. Speaking of, Yang doesn’t currently seem to be able to wield the Ruyi Jingu Bang to its supposed legendary potential. Gramps apparently says he has to earn it. So for now it’s just a heavy bendy stick. He can sense the supernatural but that doesn’t give him the answer on how to respond to or counter it. He has many moves but doesn’t know every trick in the book. An playfiend that’s secretly quite sensitive. Sometimes he can come across as an unserious simple-minded little shit. Though if you’re observant, sometimes it’ll seem like he’s looking out into the distance trying to find something that isn’t there. Still other times when you hear him talking to you won’t be able to tell if he’s talking to you, the immortal spirit in his head, or just himself. Because Yang grew up not really having shit, he’d steal random things. It’s just out of habit though— most of the time he doesn’t even really want the stuff he takes and he’ll typically put things back. Yang tends to push the envelope sometimes to see how much he can get away with. Because of the lack of guiding figures in his early years, he tends to mock authority figures and be self-reliant. He also tends to use the vibes of his circumstances to bounce off of. For example, if his friends are happy, he’s a goofball, if there’s tension, he’s going to instigate. Despite his many shortcomings though, Yang has something of a conscience with a sense of honor. If he says he’s going to do something, he’s going to do it, good and bad. He does try to do right by people most of the time, and even when he was wildin out, there were things that he bluntly wouldn’t do. If one were to become his friend, they’d discover a different side to mischievous monkey. He has a heart, he just doesn’t know how to use it properly. Ultimately, he’s just somebody’s wayward son trying to figure out how to be a better person. | Some Likes |

Bread (of all kinds)
Music (Anything he can bop to)
Dancing (See above)
Pranks (He’s a menace)
Monkey Jokes (Comes with the territory)
| Some Dislikes |

Bananas (Hilariously)
Stern All Business Types (boring)
Monkey Jokes from Others (It’s his territory)
Sitting Still for too long

BIO: His story actually starts before he was born. He was feeble and it seemed like he wasn’t going to make it. It had gotten dire enough that his father prayed, begging anybody listening, to give them a healthy son. Which, in a world filling up with superhumans, coming from all kinds of origins, you probably shouldn’t just pray without putting a name on it. Yang’s soul initially started out in limbo, though luckily, with the Chinese spirits getting a headstart to claim it because of his mother’s lineage. Out of the names drawn from a celestial hat, Sun Wukong was the winner. Although his initial choice was to be reborn in the boy’s place, the Jade Emperor was a hater and wouldn’t allow him back on the mortal plane to wreak havoc. So instead the Monkey King would have to settle for living vicariously through the child. Thus, because of the monkey king’s influence, Muyang was born a little brown furball. Now that we have all that backstory, seemingly being a child gifted from the gods and such, you would think he was destined for greatness. Not exactly…at least, not at first. His folks struggled to make ends meet and them leaning on the system. It pushed his dad to a life of crime which got him locked up when Muyang was very young. Thus without a dad-like figure and a mom who was constantly at work, he didn’t exactly have much in the way of a proper upbringing. Initially in school, kids made fun of the black monkey boy. It hurt at the time but it wasn’t really traumatizing, especially when some learned the hard way that monkey boy was quite heavy handed. The fighting led to his mom putting him in a martial arts class after school to see if that would help with tempering his aggression. To her surprise it actually worked, as the combat sport seemed to come natural to him and mellow him out somewhat. He found a mentor in Master Shaun and met his best friend Marcus in his time there. It was Marcus, in fact, that put together how similar he was to the Monkey King of legend and coined his nickname “Monkey Prince”. Things were looking up, though it didn’t solve all of his problems. During his sophomore year in high school, he ended up joining a gang called the Wildlings where they all took on animal type motifs. Being one of the few superpowered teens in the gang, Muyang was often the top enforcer. Marcus happened to be the other half of their super-powered duo, but he was more often the brains of their operations. They got into trouble, as teens do, The crimes typically went from tagging abandoned buildings to shoplifting to robbery. It was never meant to be anything too serious. One of those robberies led to him finding the Ruyi Jingu Bang, at an old pawn shop. As soon as he touched it, Monkey Prince met Monkey King. His elder initially congratulated him for finding the staff, and then reprimanded him for all of his misconduct. Of course, Yang saw this the same way any other teen in his position would: He blew it off. Though between having to hide things from his mother, Master Shaun hearing of their escapades, and now Cranky Kong in his head, Muyang’s growing conscience was weighing on him. To make matters worse, the notoriety of their crimes were starting to escalate as Marcus’ ambitions started to climb. It ultimately led up to an incident. An incident that led Yang to fight his former best friend and turn him over to the cops. It resulted in him leaving the Wildlings and, in the end, his mother convinced him to turn himself in as well. When the suits came in and started talking to him about deals, he was initially hesitant, not wanting to go out a snitch. Though one of them, the SDN guy, laid it out to Yang differently; He would avoid going to prison with his pops, he’d be given now the opportunity to right some wrongs, and use his skills to make some money a better way if he followed the rules. So the Monkey Prince was inducted into the Phoenix Program and drafted to the Z-Team.
