Though he remembers pleasant days in warmer climates and hungry nights on an unforgiving road, Nika spent most of his life growing up in Fenris. Adopted into the vassal family Surt after his own was saved by Kurt Fenris himself, Nika was raised alongside their sons as a ward of the noble House Fenris. His more docile early upbringing gave way to a lifestyle of ferocity and camaraderie, and as the years went on it became apparent the Luxu-born boy could keep pace with any Northman with some hard work. As a youth he traveled to Heavenspeak to complete the ritual slaying of an ice wyrm with the Lord Fenris and his daughter as witnesses, and following that hard won battle Nika was sworn into service as Brigitte's pact knight in spite of opponents to the decision. He has taken instruction from masters of arms and expert huntsmen, competed with Fenris' veteran warriors in tests of endurance, slayed monsters of the frontier, and lent his body for the sake of developing and testing anti-magic stratagems. All the while he has accompanied Brigitte when and wherever she had need of him, devoting himself to the next head of House Fenris and the protection of their nation.
