Hi there! I'm Mini, I have an idea, so let's get over the boring bits quickly.
I use anime faceclaims, and need you to do the same. Why? My imagination is mostly inspired by anime and JRPGs. So, having 3D or semi-real art in those settings looks utterly immersion breaking in my head. This is unfortunately not negotiable, and I apologize for that. I write about 2 times per week, and roughly 3-4 paragraphs. My ideal ratio is about 30-70, leaning more towards story. Or 50-50 at most. In case of doubt, I go with the flow so long as the situation doesn't break character personalities. In terms of female characters, I like small and petite girls. But hey. Shoot your shot. I might have my favorite, but I dare say I have a varied taste. And most importantly: I absolutely refuse to write mature content with anyone under the age of 18. Both out of fear of the law, and personal beliefs. Do not trust me to keep that kind of secret. I will bibbidi-babbidi-boo myself into a rat and tell the admins if I ever get the justified opportunity to do so.
Now what you are here for (I hope)
In short, the world is dangerous. Monsters roam the world. How strong they are depends on the area. But so long as the adventurer's guild, and the ruling king work together (though nobility and adventurers do tend to dislike each other), it's nothing to worry about. From small villages, to the capital city of the empire, the humanoid races flourish. And in this kind of setting, who wouldn't want to be an adventurer, or even a hero? Adventurers live dangerous lives, yes. But the remnants of monsters are valuable, and the adventurer's guild buys everything you yourself can't find a buyer for. There is fame to be earned too. The only downside, one needs some talent, some training, and a good amount of luck to become an adventurer in the first place.

It is a closely guarded secret, but the empress has fallen sick. It started slow, but by now she is bedridden, weak, pale. The King wasted no time to send out a call for any kind of healer who has made a name for themselves. But so far, nothing. What he doesn't realize yet, is that the solution to this dilemma is on his way. But under normal circumstances, he would never be allowed anywhere near the queen. As things stand now, the queen will perish, the Emperor will be struck with unbearable grief, and the imperial princess will come into power much sooner than anyone would want. So? What if something doesn't go as it should? A few ideas I personally have are: The princess -can read minds. So when the odd looking doctor comes, she would be able to tell that he is genuine. Something she should probably keep secret. -is from the bleak future. By some miracle, her soul traveled back in time when she met her end. Armed with knowledge from the future, can she change destiny itself? -can see the future. Maybe by using items such as tarot cards, or having visions, she usually knows what will happen in a certain timeframe. But she had not forseen him. A rougue variable perhaps? (I have an explanation ready for this one if needed.)
And now for the character. It's not mendatory to read it all, but I am aware that some writers wanna know some details ahead. So? Here they are:
Age: Technically ancient. Actually 40, while aging slowly and looking like early 20. Background: While his initial impression might be that of a demon, Yul's true background starts in a very distant past from roughly 10.000 years ago. Back then, technology was everything. Buildings reached up to the skies, it was relatively easy to communicate with people all over the world, and the world was at relative peace. The scholars of that time also decided to try their hand at creating life. In todays terms, we would call the result of that a homunculus. One of those homonculi was created to stress test what was possible for these artificial bodies and minds, both mentally and physically. So it was put through rigorous training, and academic studies. All within reasonable limits. This was successful for many years and yielded great data. That homunculus was however, eventually gravely injured during a field test. A recovery via a regeneration modification was attempted, and the homunculus was put in storage to give the recovery process all the time it would need. But something must have happened. What exactly, he didn't know. He woke up on his own when his storage pod eventually gave out. After trying to find anyone and failing, his only option left was to make his way out of there, by using what was left around him. And now was a good of a time as any to process everything. To start thinking for himself. What would he do now? Who was he? What was he compared to the people living here and now? Initially shocked to see the world around him, the homunculus hid, remembering his training. The world was... nice, but foreign. Putting two and two together took a little while, but eventually, he began to adapt. Make gear, choose a name, prepare for both hostile and friendly encounters. Not that this was easy however. Humans reacted with fear, mistaking him for a demon usually, making his first impression always a bad one. Still. Slowly but steadily, he managed to put his knowledge to use, and is by now making his money by producing and selling medicine at affordable prices. His best buyers are the merchant and adventurer guilds. Personality: Yul is arrogant, playful, cynical, and opportunistic. While he wasn't always like this, years of getting called a demon eventually left a mark. But in truth, Yul desperately wants a place to belong. He is painfully aware that he is a stranger in the entire world. His world is gone. The people that understood him are gone. And he has grim predictions of the future if all the magic his world had did not save them. A thought that makes him laugh due to how absolutely tragic things look from his perspective. A hint that there is good in him however, is his way of making money. Why make medicine when you could get richer with poison and death? Because not so deep down, Yul wishes for the world a better place. -Abilities- Enhanced sight Slow but effective healing factor Superhuman strength and stamina Expert fighter with melee weapons. Best with knives. High resistance to magic. -Disadvantages- Can not hide well, even in crowds or shadows due to his white hair and striking eyes. His resistance does backfire. It makes him- -unable to use magic -magic tools that use their user as power source (though he still collected a few) -positive magic has little to no effect on him --It also doesn't protect him from solid projectiles, like ice and earth magic, or hot/cold air.
To lean into the darker aspect of this story, the blackmail, my thought process goes like this: Princess is cute, he wants her. The treatment of the empress will take several months. So? The princess can't just call for the guards, or the only one who can (and genuinely will) cure her mother would be thrown into jail (if he doesn't escape). This leads to Yul abusing his position to treat the princess like a plaything when he gets the chance to do so. With the time they spend together, the princess also has the chance to change Yul. He is in a position where he doesn't need to fear her position or even her parents. Meaning: He would talk to her, listen to her, share his opinion. It wouldn't take long until she could even ask Yul, someone who can move freely in and out of the castle, to help her out or grant her small wishes. Heck. We could even let him teach her magic. While he can not use it himself, he has knowledge in the field. I'm quite sure we can figure out the rest together if needed. And if you are reading this, you either skipped to the end, or I did not manage to scare you away. Well, if it is the latter, do you think this is something you wanna write with me? If so, please send me a pm, and I'm sure we can work out something memorable.
