[Hider= Power Discovery]As his mother Dominika was a mutant, he was also obsessed with the idea of his X-gene activating. He wanted to be like the heroes in the stories, in the legends - and some of them had powers. He used to theorize that Hercules might have been one of the first mutants, rather than strictly a demigod. He had a little diary he carried around with him, where he'd record anything that could potentially be the sign of a power manifesting. He tested himself regularly, monitoring how much weight he could lift, how fast he could run, spending hours attempting to move objects with his mind - and ironically, he missed his power when it first came about. He had been wandering around in Chinatown and didn't notice that he could roughly understand everything that was being said.  

He first properly noticed this power when out at dinner with his mothers at age 13, when he calmly ordered his food in fluent Italian, despite only speaking English and Russian. His secondary power, the ability to teleport, he discovered while at school in gym class. It was dodgeball day and Percy suddenly disappeared and reappeared about ten feet away, just as a ball had been about to nail him in the head.

Percy is the only child of Dr. Dominika Novikova (Mama) and Dr. Naomi Levy (Mum). Dominika and Naomi had been friends while they both worked at SHIELD, where Dominika had been stationed in the field as an enhanced fighter and scientist, and Naomi was employed as an archivist. Their paths temporarily drifted apart, as Dominika was fired from SHIELD for her involvement in the creation of Ultron with Dr. Hank Pym and then became engaged to one of her fellow agents, although the engagement did not last. She relocated to California to continue to work with Pym, as well as joining the West Coast Avengers. Similarly, Naomi received an offer to work at the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in Los Angeles. With the two of them both again in the same area, they reconnected and became something a little more than just gal pals. And after their wedding, they conceived Percy by IVF.

Growing up, Percy was never really interested in playing with other kids. He liked to read, devouring just about any book that he could get his hands on. The classics were always his favorite. He was obsessed with Ancient Greece and its mythology, imprinting heavily on the Percy Jackson series (after all, he had the same name as the protagonist). His mother, Naomi, encouraged and nurtured this obsession, regularly bringing him new books to read and impressing upon him the importance of understanding cultures and societies of the past to better understand the present. His mothers were hardly surprised when Percy was diagnosed as being on the spectrum - both of them were as well. 

Beyond books, of course, he also loved to explore - a passion that connected him more with Dominika. She had had a similar wanderlust at his age, although his parents did not at the time realize the extent of his roaming. He would routinely end up in areas he had not business being in, and once his mutant powers had manifested, his teleportation gift allowed him to escalate into petty crimes, such as shoplifting (alcohol). In other times, though, his parents would adventure with him - Naomi had her pilot's license, and the three of them would climb into the small family plane and just [i]fly[/i]. 

But his life was by no means easy. Beginning in elementary school and continuing through middle school, Percy was severely bullied. The other kids picked on his height, his name, his personality and sexuality - and he was somewhat powerless to fight back. He was thrown into lockers and trash cans, shoved down in gym class, pelted with dodgeballs - all of the classics. It was this bullying that drove him to binge drinking, viewing alcohol as a tool to allow him to quiet his emotions and steady his mind. At the same time, it also pushed him away from a more childlike, kind, and sweet personality, into one that was more quick to anger, more guarded, more hardened to the world and the pain it could inflict. 

So when his powers developed, Percy was more than thrilled to leave his old classmates behind and apply for Avengers Academy. It was a logical choice. His mothers had been SHIELD agents and superheroes - he had the pedigree for it. And at AA, he could learn to control his powers better, to acquire the skills needed to be a classic hero, to be an adventurer - to explore and see things no one else had ever known. And yet, as much as he was excited to be going to this new school, he entered the Margaret Carter Institute paranoid and afraid, seeing the ghosts of his old bullies in the faces of all he met - even in the face of his soulmate, Dorian Gray.
