[Hider=A Star Is Born]

Magaline Simmons was born to two parents who should never have been together. Despite this, Gabriel and Renata Simmons got married and had Magaline early on in their marriage, some speculating it was a way to save a doomed relationship. Gabriel, a museum curator, and Renata, a bank teller, did their best to provide for the young girl who seemed energetic and wild since she first took in a breath of air.

Underneath the surface was trouble. Renata had a long history of addiction to hard drugs and alcohol. She did her best to hide it but quickly lost ties to friends and family, struggled to keep her job, and often left her daughter to fend for herself when Renata watched her. Gabriel noticed this and begged and pleaded with his wife to get help. No amount of Alcoholics Anonymous seemed to get through to her.

One night, Renata was driving Magadline after she had drunk a lot and crashed into another car, severely injuring the other person. Magaline was unharmed, but remembered the flashing lights, the cries from her mother, and the intense noises from the crash. Magdaline saw firsthand how addiction latched onto her mother. Renata was arrested, and her father came to pick up Magdaline. This was the final straw for Gabriel, who fought for sole custody of Magdaline and divorced Renata. Renata was sentenced to a year in jail. After that year, Renata attempted to see Magdaline, but Gabriel refused. After getting a restraining order, Renata fled off into the unknown.[/hider]

Magdaline's father did his best to raise her on his own, but he struggled a lot. Having autism made connecting emotionally more difficult, and he found himself struggling to be fully present with her. This was why he relied on his family, namely his siblings Valerie and Harry. Magdaline loved her uncle and aunt and relished their visits. Magdaline grew a love of music and performance from Harry and would often bother him with karaoke sessions and productions Magdaline thought up on her own. Harry encouraged Magdaline's love of the stage.

Valerie spent more intimate time with Magdaline, teaching her various things like how to lockpick and hotwire a car. Unbeknownst to Magdaline, who only saw that she had a cool aunt, Valerie was preparing Magdaline for her future. There was always an underlying worry that Magdaline was a mutant, given that the Simmons bloodline had the gene. Renata was also a mutant and hid her powers, diminishing them with her drug use and alcoholism. Magdaline's powers, if she even had any, never manifested during her adolescence.

With her love of music, Magdaline changed her name to Millicent Broadway and started pushing out videos to social media. She quickly amassed a following when she was just 13 years old. Eventually, she was asked to sign on to record labels that wanted to direct her and market her. Millicent, thanks to Valere's lessons, ensured she remained in creative control of her music and would only perform her own original songs. Harry helped a lot with the performance and routines, but Millicent grew even more popular, especially among young girls. By the age of 14 Millicent's music was trending and she was topping the charts. Performances sold out quickly and she went on tour, performing with some other notable names.

During one performance, a fan, one who had sent Millicent multiple letters professing his love for her and his desire to meet her, came to one of her shows. The man rushed the stage, outmaneuvering security until he got face-to-face with Millicent. Freaked out, she attempted to calm him down, offering to perform with him on stage. He screamed about how he wanted to be with her, how he wanted to have her all to himself, and when he noticed Millicent's reaction, she pulled out a knife and attempted to attack her.

As he did so, Millicent's powers manifested as she produced a force field around herself, protecting her from the knife. Once it fell, she turned invisible on stage and ran back as security came and tackled the man to the ground. The performance was quickly canceled, and all future dates were canceled and refunded.

News spread quickly despite attempts from multiple PR firms to change the story about Millicent's abilities. Though she carried a loyal fanbase, social media blew up with rumors of her powers, her secrets, and what she planned to do. Mutant distrust was still present.

During this time, Millicent's aunt Valerie visited often, comforting the girl and helping her train. Millicent, full of uncertainty and fear, followed her aunt's instructions and learned how to defend herself. The training sessions often got intense, so much so that her uncle Harry often had to intervene to get Valerie to stop, and with Valerie's partner Eva in tow, it was clear there was too much pressure from everyone.

It was during this time that her uncle Harry made a suggestion. She needed to learn how to manage her abilities as well as be in a place where she could be herself without fear. Having some knowledge of it, Harry recommended that Millicent attend Avenger's Academy and decide there what her future looked like. There she would be able to take hold of her powers and skills and make a future for herself. Millicent enrolled readily, knowing she had support behind her.
