It also determines the skills they research and the sphere of procurement they mostly operate in. When taken together these generate their value to their team-mates. Without said value added they can attract no additional funding (at the time). So... Its up to your team-mates to decide if your career path adds value to the team, and if they can, to act as force multipliers when combined together. A motorpool department is valued but a department of shoe polish perhapse less so... perhapse... Success results in additional departmental funding until each character career can hire several assistants, thus expanding their department. For example, each player can hire their own vehicle from Hertz hire, or they can attempt to buy one second hand. The motorpool instead can actuall see to this. As far as application of force, the team presently has the option of issued service weapons, most of which inspired from 1980s pre-AWB police agency sidearms.
