Guen cooked salmon for dinner, grilled and wrapped as salmon riceballs. There was also miso soup and chicken karaage, along with other dishes. This was all done within 30 minutes due to her skillful cooking and preparation time. She also prepared her very own homemade, Iced Boba Tea and Green Tea.

Akira walked into the kitchen, his mother, yes, their mother, or at least that's the most accurate terminology Akira could think of Guen, after all, she's been raising them since they were 9 years old. A blur was all Akira really remembered & mysterious women saving them. In hindsight, following the first strange woman, because she helped them, was a terrible idea, but they were children, and they only knew how to survive.

That's how Akira was adopted.

At first, Guen was distant & clearly due to her having a heart in all that coldness, she cared for kids, not like that mattered to Akira, this child is fond of Guen, it would be an understatement if Akira is incapable of noticing, it's more than they simply didn't care to entertain such thoughts.
All Akira cared about at first was the fact that Guen was providing warm meals and a warm bed, but that led to Guen making them their “apprentice”, Tsuguko. Guen gave Akira an ultimatum; become A Demon Slayer or live with a normal family. However, this backfired since Akira showed prodigious finesse with the sword in a matter of days and learnt their first breathing form before the end of the month. By the time they reach 12, they have learned all the forms of Mist Breathing and know the basics of water breathing when they officially join the Corps and are ranked Hinoe.

They rarely ruminated on the past, but these thoughts always quickly pass through their mind when they see Guen, who used to act cold and stoic, now acting like a dutiful mother making food for a child that's been playing outside all day.

And now, they have a close bond.

“Aki~ How's your day?” Guen asked like the dutiful mother she is. She had a fake smile similar to Jae-Eun, this was due to the hectic day that she encountered. “Did you practice Cold Breathing? It's alright if you don't, I won't nudge you to do it.” She said so coyly as she munched on her food.

“I've enrolled you at Wasedai, consider it an espionage mission, just like your Aunt Kairi always says.” Guen coated her motherly appeal into edging Akira to be at Wasedai, her intention was to use Akira to spy on Takaya's group.
“Sure whatever you say “ says with a truly angelic smile.
Guen was nowhere near subtle, she's always on that jazz of getting the job done, she's like this but wasn't as obsessed.
Akira truly didn't care if the request was to go to school or bring someone's head to her because they truly didn't bother making a distinction between those two types of requests. 
“Mom, for cold breathing, I've actually been practicing it.” Not much of a secret  because they haven't really made any substantial progress on it. The issue isn't that Akira can't perform the moves, but breathing style. Anyone could be a demon slayer it's simply that Akira lack the mentality you use it cold breathing is a truly vicious fighting style the balancing flow of water breathing combined with the fast and vicious wind breathing and the metaphysical cherry on top is the fact the wounds instantly freeze after the cut even demons would have a hard time recovering from those type of wounds.

That's why Akira struggles with it; it takes a level of aggression that simply Akira doesn't have naturally.

“Is there anything else It's been a while since I've been sent on a mission I've kind of been left in guard watch duty and a demon here are far too weak simply cutting their heads off kills them unlike the other ones I fought it kind of disappointing”

Flashforward…
Akira finds themselves spacing out in the meeting.
“Yamazaki Akira…Tomioka Guen's son and Tsuguko, I'll be under Yoshihide-san’s care from now on.” They bowed.

Showa Secret: Akira is a Trap. We don't know their gender. Though based on pronouns, they use "ore", they look androgynous and mostly appears to be a boyish girl or a feminine boy.
