Chase didn't so much as discover his powers as he did have them thrust upon him. He'd always been a bit of a problem child. Bullying others at school, skipping classes, and sneaking out at night past curfew. His relationship with his parents wasn't the best, and it was because of their views that he had a hard time accepting himself. One day as he went out, he was snagged by some people in an unmarked car. He attempted to fight and struggle as much as he could, but they had numbers and mass far beyond him. When he next woke up he was inside of a glass tube, muted voices could be heard as he floated suspended in a liquid with a respiratory attached to his mouth. The only view he had was a sterile white room with a multitude of equipment, strange jars, others in similar tanks, and a single photo of a girl on a desk in the far back. Her face was burned into his memory. 

Chase had lost track of how long he'd been down there. Countless experiments being ran on him as he was poked, prodded, and injected with various things. They were trying to…create something. What he didn't know. Soon he got used to the feeling of pain, and the last experiment they'd done on him would seal those doctors' fates. Something clicked within him, the substance fused with him not only giving him powers he'd never had before but also awakening his X-gene that had refused to trigger so many times before. At once every machine began to fail as his powers jinxed each one and test subjects began to have their tanks drain. Darkness filled his, cracks forming as the growing pressure from inside became too much before it all shattered and came spilling forth. 

Shadows clung to him like a cloak as he walked over to one of the doctors and asked him why. How had no one come to search for him? Did not one care? He told Chase his parents signed a consent form and that broke something in him. Tendrils lashed out at equipment, machines broke, beakers smashed, and not a single doctor was left to breath as he rampaged through the facility. Before long he broke through a wall of the building and left, his parents were his next mark.

[Hider=General History]
Before his powers, before his life crashed before his very eyes in fits of anger and darkness, Chase was a relatively normal boy. Growing up he'd always felt a little different, he didn't know how to process that information and instead decided to lash out. His parents spoke of evils in this world, and he felt as though he may be one of them. When he found out a boy in his school had liked him, he didn't know how to feel. He'd always felt a certain way towards other guys in his school, his gaze lingering a little too long within the changing rooms for P.E. So when he found out a guy liked him instead, he did the only thing he knew how to do. The only way he could express his emotions. He lashed out.

Chase bullied him relentlessly for his height, the way he spoke, how he acted, dressed, just about anything he did would catch Chase's attention. Shoving him in lockers and trash cans, and finding new inventive ways to torture the short king merely because his existence made Chase feel so confused and small. Eventually that kid transferred out to a new school, Chase wouldn't find out however since that summer was the night he was abducted. 

After his inevitable break out and the carnage that followed after, Chase found himself wandering alone the streets unsure of what to do, where to go. He felt numb yet free. That was when he ran into two other mutants, Morgan and PJ. Apparently Morgan had seen this event occur before it did and knew where he would be and they chose to take him in. He got some therapy, which allowed him to work through some of his internalized problems, and finally set forth to having him join a school to hone his powers.
