He has his mother’s strong, Romanesque nose and olive skin. His father blessed him with beautiful dark blonde waves that are just beginning to sport their first flashes of silver at the temples and forehead, and bright golden-green hazel eyes. He has a few pairs of glasses he wear - usually a mix of wire frames and tortoiseshell styles - because he has an unfortunate habit of leaving them lying around and misplacing them. He looks the part of a professor, though as a field biologist who has often had to hike his own gear out to sites of study, he’s no string bean. Hudson stands at 6’0” tall (1.83m) with a lean-but-strong build.
Personality
Theo is a quiet, gentle man at heart. However, he finds great joy in teaching others about his area of expertise, so if you get him going on a topic of interest, it can be hard to get him to shut up. He is a meticulous note-taker with excellent pattern recognition and nearly perfect recall. However, his space can be a little chaotic, especially when deep in his research. His desk and workspace might be strewn with papers that don’t look to be in any sort of order, but it makes sense to him as he connects the dots. Theo thrives under pressure and has a habit of procrastinating to create artificial pressure so he can actually get things done.
Role
Xenobiologist
Skills

Advanced Education: Theo studied at multiple levels with coursework that started with basic biology and chemistry and culminated in advanced degrees in evolutionary biology and astrobiology.
Wilderness Survival: Due to the nature of fieldwork, a strong foundation in survival tactics was necessary to ensure the safety of himself and his teams.
Wilderness First Aid: Differing slightly from contemporary first aid, Theo had more advanced courses with a focus on both stabilisation and transport as well as preparation for multiple rescue tactics.
Field Research: He has many stints of field work under his belt collecting samples for study, as well as studying habitats and environmental factors.
Lab Study: A majority of his work is done in controlled laboratory environments where equipment can help him get deeper into the nitty gritty of biological study.
Linguistics: Theo firmly believes part of studying the possibilities of alien life is rooted in languages and their evolution. He studies languages for fun as a way to keep his mind sharp and prepare in case his dreams of meeting an advanced, sentient alien life form comes true so he is more prepared to learn how to communicate with them.
Musician: Music is math, and Theo started lessons early first with the recorder, then the flute before trying various stringed instruments until he fell in love with the guitar. He’s been playing classical guitar since he was 12 years old. It’s a way to clear his mind and relax, especially after a long day of fieldwork when he needs to process everything.

Personal Belongings/Equipment

Collection equipment: For collecting any meaningful samples in the field.
Tablet: serves as a notepad, camera for recording in the field and lab, etc.
Basic First Aid Kit: Just enough to patch up and keep going if there’s an accident. He has a more extensive kit in the lab
Storage drive with media including movies, TV, music, photos, etc.
Classical guitar with maintenance tools such as extra strings

Background
Theo was born on a geoscience research outpost rather than a fully-settled colony. The station - amusingly dubbed Station “K” for “Kaos” - was on a mission to determine the feasibility of colonising planets with more difficult environments. On Station K, the planet’s lack of rotation while orbiting the sun meant half the year was spent in blistering heat and the other half was bone-chillingly cold. The myriad of researchers were studying everything from the physiological effects of the environment to engineering biodomes that could withstand even the most brutal environments. Ultimately, they reached the lifespan of the temporary shelter and were forced to abandon the station when Theo was nearly a teenager. Theo went from being in a tiny class of just a few kids all educated in the same room to being in a mega-school that provided individually paced coursework via a digital workstation. He excelled and was able to graduate ahead of the usual pace at 16. Having been raised by a community of scientists and researchers for the first 12 years of his life, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with himself upon graduation. He pursued further formal education and specialised in biology to pursue the nature of life, especially sentient life, in the universe. During the main academic terms, he crammed as many classes as he could into his schedule. In summer, he joined any research team that would take him or interned at labs studying everything from genetics to extraterrestrial flora and fauna. Ultimately he earned his degrees and became a professor to teach and access research budget to lead his own expeditions of study. He specialised primarily in evolutionary biology and pioneered research that sought to understand how extraterrestrial life had evolved, lived, and died.
Miscellaneous

Theo hates bright overhead lighting. In his personal quarters, this means dimmed lighting only. In the lab, it usually means only the various moveable spotlights are on in the area where he’s working.
Theo is the type for whom his work is his life, and it has driven a wedge into most every relationship or friendship he’s had in the past except with other biologists who are of a similar mind.
Theo loves all animals, ugly and cute alike, and he’s generally very good with them.
