[hider=TRIGGER WARNING! Mentions of DV][indent]🦋 Dallas Eliza King was the product of a one night stand her mother Susan King had with Texas carpenter Austin Hayes during a trip to Vegas to visit her older sister Stella. 
🦋 Although Susan and Austin tried to make things work, the shotgun relationship was not successful, resulting in Susan moving back to the home she'd once shared with her mother Betty.
🦋 Born and raised in Pines Holler with her mother and grandmother, Dal hasn’t known a life outside of the small, closely-knit town she grew up in.
🦋 She shares a very distant relationship with her father, who thankfully stepped up to the plate and economically supported his daughter with what he could.
🦋 While her mother worked long hours to support them at the big hospital half an hour away, Dal grew up mostly under the care of her grandmother, who taught her the basics of homemaking: cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc. She unfortunately passed away a month before the girl started middle school.
🦋 After her grandmother’s passing, Susan inherited the trailer the three women shared, and left the now self-sufficient Dallas to fend for herself without a babysitter or caretaker from that point onward.
🦋 As is to be expected, Dal took advantage of all this free time to play "pretend influencer" and teach herself skills like doing her hair in different ways, makeup application, nail art, etc.
🦋 At age 15, with her mother’s permission and in hopes of killing boredom and earning money for her own expenses, Dal sought employment at Lou’s Diner, where she has been working to this day.
🦋 At age 20 and after a month of dates, Dallas got involved in her first serious relationship with Valentino Lockwood: a widowed law enforcement officer 12 years her senior.
🦋 Their love story started off quite dreamily, with Val sweeping Dal off her feet and the young woman thinking she'd finally found the Prince Charming she’d live happily ever after with.
🦋 It was after Dallas moved in with Val three months into the relationship that the cracks started to show. Valentino drowned his inner torment and the stresses of the job in alcohol, which turned him into an angry, moody man that the concerned and nervous Dal felt she had to walk in eggshells around. The smallest of remarks would send the man into a rage: snapping at her in a raised voice, flinging whatever items were in close proximity across rooms (sometimes in Dal’s direction), kicking and punching walls and doors…
🦋 The naive, guilt-stricken Dallas stuck around for nearly a year, making herself smaller and smaller as she desperately tried to “save” a Valentino that was only growing more volatile as the months went on.
🦋 Two months after their first anniversary, Dallas attempted to have an intervention with Val, which concluded with the man forcefully grabbing her by the arms hard enough to leave bruises and yelling in her face that “he’d stop drinking whenever the fuck he wanted, not when some spoiled brat told him to”.
🦋 Struck by a rare moment of clarity, the sobbing, heartbroken Dal packed up her things and moved to her cousin Mollie and her husband Kent’s house, all the while ignoring Val’s profuse apologies and pleas for her to stay. She was too ashamed to return to her mother’s house, who had warned her moving in with Val was a bad idea.
🦋 While Dallas did stumbled a few times in her quest to completely cut off Valentino from her life, she has been successfully keeping her ex at arm’s length for the last five months… Which is good timing considering her sights have been set on a certain ex-con from the moment she laid eyes on him the first time he walked into the diner after his release.
🦋 In the present, Dal continues to live at Mollie’s home, dividing her time between work, her social media/beauty content hobbies and supporting her cousin through the loss of Kent.[/indent][/hider]
