Nevertheless, she is very obviously a Nord, with pale and freckled skin that burns easily under the sun, and long, beautiful red hair typically bound in a messy braid. Her build has that innate strength and heartiness of her people, though she does little to cultivate it further. Her eyes are a warm amber color, almost red in shade. In terms of clothing, Brin dresses often in men's attire, loose and comfortable buttoned shirts and practical trousers and boots. That said, she knows full well how to present herself to make use of her charm and appearance. She has a particular fondness for jewelry, rarely seen without multiple rings, bracelets, necklaces, and more.[/sub]
____________________________________________________________________________ MOTIVATION AND OUTLOOK
[sub]Brinlaith is a survivor that has proven capable of withstanding the twists and turns of her life. Her past could've forged her into a hateful, closed-minded woman, but she managed to hang on to reason even in a complicated, dangerous situation. She is quite hard on herself for the things she participated in, most of all being the deaths she contributed to, both directly and indirectly. Having been burned by people before, she's slow to open up and slower to trust, and feels like she's never quite understood what it means to have a true friend in her life. She hasn't let the past hold her back from fighting for the future, though. She's good with a blade and even better with magic, crafty and cunning when dealing with threats from stealth, and charismatic when she needs to be. There's a ferocity she lets out sometimes, when backed into a corner or when the need is dire. Maybe it's some Nord heritage in her veins, or maybe it's something else. Whatever it is, it keeps her going. She doesn't feel like she can go home, and she needs to escape Cyrodiil, so for now, High Rock is where she's headed. No matter what happens, Brin will try to make the best of it.[/sub]
____________________________________________________________________________ BACKGROUND
[sub]Brinlaith came of age in Windhelm, Skyrim, the only child of a family with a close allegiance to the charismatic jarl, Ulfric. As a child Brin grew up hearing stories of Nord greatness, building pride in her heritage and fostering resentment towards their people's Imperial overlords and the elven masters. When she displayed great magical aptitude, she was sent to the College of Winterhold. She only studied there for a year, for Ulfric put out a call for loyal Nords willing to undertake a dangerous mission. Brinlaith answered at once, returning to Windhelm and joining a group that would be traveling to the Imperial heartland, Cyrodiil. There they would act as spies and if needed, saboteurs and agents of his will. She received some training with the blade for her protection to supplement her magic, and then traveled south by carriage. Brin was enthusiastic about their mission at first. Her part of the plan involved gaining entrance to the Arcane University in the Imperial City, furthering her own magical expertise in areas such as healing, self-defense, and illusions, while also learning what she could about the goings on in the Empire. True to his word, though, it wasn't long before they were asked of more. Attacking caravans, setting fires, stealing documents, even the occasional assassination. Brin didn't take to it naturally, feeling more like a bandit than a spy. As the most gifted in destruction magic of the group, she was often tasked setting the fires to either smoke out their targets, or cover their escape. Her time in Cyrodiil had taught her that the Imperials weren't all that different from the Nords, and left her feeling disillusioned with the coming war before it ever began. She had built friendships at the University, normal, good people who had no ill will towards Skyrim and the Nords. She'd been forced to abandon those relationships when her group became careless, and bounties were put on their heads as a result. Eventually she discovered her group's leader had simply been fabricating the orders coming from the north. They hadn't heard from Ulfric in months. With horror, Brin realized they essentially had become bandits, stealing and burning for only their own benefit. She left them behind in the dead of night, heading west. She met the captain of the Arslan's Fortune by chance in Anvil. She'd been subtly casing the ships in the docks, considering which she would have the best chance of sneaking aboard as a stowaway, when the captain was attacked by a mad skooma addict trying to violently rob the man, or perhaps just kill him. Regardless, Brin made a timely intervention, saving the captains life and healing his wounds. She decided to admit her story to him, preferring the honest route where it was possible, and as thanks for saving his life the captain agreed to take her on as a passenger back to High Rock, and keep her off the logs. Brin offered her services as a healer and mage should they be needed for the voyage, free of charge. She plans to start a new life if she can once she reaches High Rock.[/sub]
____________________________________________________________________________ RELATIONSHIPS AND OPINIONS
[sub] To be expanded once the RP gets going properly.
