BORN IN THE RING!

Fighting Spirit is a pro wrestling e-federation inspired by Japanese wrestling promotions such as NJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH. Some of you may have participated in an e-fed before, but if not I'll give a basic overview since it works a bit differently from your typical play-by-post RP game. Each player takes on the role of 1-2 wrestlers in the promotion, while another person takes on the role of the booker, or matchmaker. The booker sets the matches for the upcoming show, and the players then cut promos against one another to hype their respective matches and feuds. Storytelling is also a collaborative effort, with players contributing ideas to the booker in regards to the overall direction of their character from show to show. Promo RPs have a word limit (in our case 1000 words) and are judged to determine the winner of each match. Sometimes, depending on the storyline, the winner can be agreed upon by all parties involved ahead of time, in order to forward the narrative. Again, storytelling can be collaborative.
The Golden Rule

Be respectful of other players, and don't be a dick. It's fake fake fighting, so don't take things too seriously. If there are any issues, just send me a message. We want this to be a fun, positive experience for everybody.
The Spirit of Competition

Within the kayfabe world of Fighting Spirit, wrestlers are expected to adhere to a code of honor known as the Spirit of Competition. This code states that they must shake hands with their opponent as a sign of mutual respect and fully abide by the rules of the ring. Babyfaces will adhere to the Spirit of Competition, while heels, naturally, will not. In this case of an extremely personal grudge match between bitter rivals, the code will be "suspended"... which means it's anything goes!
Schedule & Structure

Our aim is to have a more casual schedule of events as compared to other e-feds. I know that I'm busy with my career, relationship, and everyday life stuff, so I think this fed is a great option for those in a similar situation. It would also be perfect for someone that's in another fed already, but wants to branch out a bit creatively. This could be a secondary promotion for you, similar to how many wrestlers in the United States will make occasional appearances for promotions in Japan. Since the fed is being hosted here on RP Guild, this schedule also makes it a great option for somebody involved in other RPs. Whether you're a die-hard fan of Japanese wrestling, or just a fan with a casual interest, there's a place for you in Fighting Spirit. Much like Japanese wrestling today, the presentation and booking style will still have a great deal of North American influence. Pro Wrestling is a universal language.

Players may control 1-3 wrestlers. They may be completely separate, occasional allies/partners, or a fully dedicated tag team/stable.
Shows will be bi-weekly during our major round robin tournament in the summer (similar to the G1), but monthly outside of that. When a show is announced, it will always include the exact date of the show, as well as the promo deadline.
Promos are due one week before the date of the show. This gives me time to construct the matches and post the results on time.
Please get your RPs posted by the deadline. It's a more casual schedule, but we still want to put out the shows in a consistent manner.
It is my commitment as the booker and match writer to get shows posted a week after RPs have closed.
For singles matches, each wrestler may post 1 RP with a 1000 word limit.
For tag team matches, each team member may post 1 RP with a 750 word limit, or the team may post 1 joint RP with a 1500 word limit.
I will pad out the roster with some NPCs when needed, but these wrestlers will not be pushed as champions. It's about the players.

What Makes a Good Promo?

A good RP is engaging, entertaining, and showcases your character. It also, importantly, helps to showcase your opponent's character. Put over your opponent, don't bury them. If your bury your opponent and lose, you lost to a guy that sucks. If you bury your opponent and win, who cares? You beat a guy that sucks. A good promo builds up both wrestlers.
Promos are about promoting the match. Talk the readers into the building. Get people excited to see the match.
Keep your RP within the word limit. Quality over quantity.
Proofread for spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. You can have a bunch of great ideas, but you need to communicate those ideas effectively. Make sure your promo has a solid structure and flow.
Keep things appropriate. Your RP can have some swearing and innuendoes sprinkled in, but in general it should resemble the type of content you would see on a modern, mainstream wrestling show.

Wrestler Applications

If you are interested in joining the Fighting Spirit roster, fill out a character sheet and post it in the OOC section. Once your wrestler is approved, you may add it to the Characters tab. Please be sure to follow the format provided to keep things organized, and have a look at the other wrestlers currently on the roster to make sure your signature/finishing moves do not overlap. For your pic base, try to use an actual wrestler (can be from any era).
