Damascus is made from several different layers of metal forged together, then acid etched to show the pattern, it is a forging technique, wich ignoring all ways to get this save for one, can be procured by forging a meteorite.
Crucible steel is what you are talking about. But that is made by melting different kinds of iron and some other stuff like sand and glass together. So you need more than meteoric iron and no one is mining iron in this time period. Which yeah Damascus Steel is crucible steel, but, no one knows how Damascus Steel was made since the techniques were lost and the attempts to make it used steel that was very similar to Wootz steel or used different kinds of steel and iron to make it. Plus, meteoric iron is already iron, no need to smelt, and that is why people used it in the Bronze Age. They did not need to smelt it to use it like with iron ore, and they just hammered it into the shape they wanted. So you have to invent a furnace that can reach the temperature needed to melt the iron since that has not been invented yet. Now I could be wrong about stuff but, you would still need to make a setup where your char could do this and do it reliably. No one in ancient or modern times makes steel from meteoric iron, so you would be on your own and have no knowledge of how to make steel from meteoric iron using ancient techniques. I am not sure if you can try doing it with a modern technique with no modern setup. Also, it has to be an iron meteorite. Not a random meteorite. Side note about your post, parchment has not been invented yet. That was invented in the 2nd century BC. So your char cannot just write down the blueprints for a galley. They would have to invent it or a writing surface on which he can write on. But, I do not think your character knows how to do.
[@Theyra] also, what was the Minoan head of government, i am not having much luck finding out online, so asking you
From what I could find, it is either elite families ruled both the government and religion or a theocracy of some sort, governed by a college of priestesses. So no one ruler ruled the island.
I think I'll make 1 or 2 more posts and I'll be ready for the first timeskip.
Okay, good to know.
