Snow kicked up behind her boots as she surged forward, closing the distance in a handful of swift strides. She measured the area, carefully counting in her mind.

She planted one foot against a half-buried stone and launched up and forward, cloak flaring behind her. The scythe arced in a clean, descending crescent as she fell, the blade whispering through cold air before biting toward the first zombie’s neck.

She didn’t wait to see if it dropped.

The moment her boots touched down, she pivoted on her heel, letting the momentum carry through her core. The scythe’s haft rolled smoothly through her palms as she spun, extending the blade in a low, horizontal sweep aimed for the second creature’s throat.
