A Fish Out Of Water This man was very successful at his job, but he was very much out of his element. Jamie was used to the comforts of coffee, good home cooked meals, or fancy dinners at a five star Michellin restaurant. The internet, television shows, or even video games, on a rare occasion. All of these things were gone, not to mention his relationships with other people he held dearly. He had no idea if he would ever see them again. Still though, as long as it would take to live in these comforts again, anywhere from a few centuries to a thousand years or more, there were more pressing concerns. Jamie had to make himself a productive, trusted member of society. The local tribes thought Jamie was bizarre, and they were probably right. To them he would be. That didn't matter though, because he began his work right away. Over the months he befriended various men in the nearby tribes. He wasn't totally trusted at first, and people thought he was crazy, but over time, more trust was built between him and the locals. He WAS an archaeologist, so he would know a few things he needed to to get by. He knew which plants to avoid, which ones were fit to eat, and which ones could be used for medicine. All things considered, he wasn't doing half bad. People thought he looked weird and gave him odd looks, but no one was trying to pick a fight with him, yet. They helped him to hunt, which he already knew how to do as a survivalist, but they were better. Still though, the people thought he was some kind of liar, or intelligent trickster with wild stories. Stories about powerful weapons that sounded like thunder, the power to channel the power of lightning to see, to play and just to live. Surgical procedures such as heart transplants, running indoor water systems, even weapons that eradicate entire tribes in just one use, and so on. They thought he was useful, however. He knew how to build very well, and in a little under a year, he had constructed a few log cabins. He cooperated as a member of society, and worked hard. People may have thought he was a weirdo, but they at least respected him.
