[color=5b8a9a]“We have never sought heights in magic. Such gross indulgence in power is oft the very hubris that brings about the folly of man and survival has ever been our goal.”[/color]

Nicholas could feel his blood pressure rise and snatched Barty by the ear, dragging him down the hall and away from the door. [color=5b8a9a]“Do [i]not[/i] bring those anywhere near [i]her[/i].”[/color] He hissed once they were out of earshot. [color=5b8a9a]“Start with research less capable of stealing and then deal with sentient creatures if you must.”[/color]

I wouldn't even allow them to be in the same room, let alone let anyone aware of their presence.”[/color] Barty said with a cool smile before smacking Nicky's hand off of his ear. He readjusted his coat and shirt to ensure he looked presentable once more. [Color=8a9a5b]”Why she even believes that she could be of any aid to us is beyond me. As you said, we aren't searching for grander power. Just a humble life to live.”[/color]

Nicholas nodded in agreement. [color=5b8a9a]“Let us reconvene for supper then. My plants still need potting if we wish to replenish our supplies.”[/color] Nicholas offered his brother a quick, private smile before setting into his usual flat expression. [color=5b8a9a] “They hired her and she followed their orders, simple enough. No need to ponder on the motives of children. It would be satisfying to have a favor on her, however. Maybe we can plan that later.”[/color] Nicholas turned, heading g back outside and towards the greenhouse.
