Saylor's impatience was starting to get to her. Agent Novak looked no more frustrated than when she walked in. "Can we end this already? It's past my bed time and I haven't had dinner yet," Saylor said with a sarcastic edge. "We can do something about your hunger, but we can't release you until your parents come to get you," Agent Novak replied. Saylor glared at her. They weren't concerned about her mom being there when they picked her up. Granted, Ronnie was there when they did, but that drunk could barely get himself up to piss when he'd been hitting the bottles all day. He said he would get himself cleaned up to come over, but he said a lot of things. "So you called my mom?" she asked. Agent Novak nodded. "We did-" "Then you know she's in Philly and isn't coming back for at least another day." Saylor feared she may have said too much, but her mom didn't have the money to get a ticket back yet. "Unless you have someone picking her up." She hoped they did, but at the same time didn't. If they caught her hooking, then she'd go to jail and Saylor would be stuck with Ronnie and they'd eventually be put out for not paying bills, unless they got CPS involved. That would be a headache didn't really want to deal with. Her next of kin were her shitty grandparents that kicked them out when she was a toddler. Maybe the Connors would let her move in, until she turned eighteen. "Should we have someone picking her up?" Agent Novak asked. Saylor shrugged. "Yeah, unless you want me to have a sleepover in a jail cell." Agent Novak tapped her finger on the metal table, once again having a stare down with Saylor, obviously thinking about something. "I'll have someone get you something to eat. Can't promise it'll be good, but better than nothing." Saylor rolled her eyes. "Just go to Jimmy's." She looked over her shoulder at the clock on the wall. "It closes at midnight. I'll take a double bacon cheese burger with a fry and a vanilla milkshake." She turned back around after giving her order. "Like I said. I'll see what I can do." Agent Novak got up from the table and went to the door. "I'll see you in a bit Ms. Moon." When the door closed, Saylor pulled her phone out of her pocket and pulled up TikTok. She followed almost everyone at school. She never posted herself, but she liked to stay up-to-date with what was going on. If there's shit about her going around, then she needed to know before she walked through the doors. Better to be prepared than blindsided. There were videos from the warehouse out in the forest. Seemed like a major party was going on. If she weren't here, she'd still not be there, but she would trade spots with any of those kids to not be in an uncomfortable metal chair for two hours in a police station.
