“Rise and shine. Today is a new day. Today is another chance for you to be the best you. I believe in you. Good luck today. Today’s climate is approximating the early autumnal periods of historic Italian records. There will be a few light rain showers periodically from the hours of 1200 to 1600, so be prepared for inclement weather. " Gwendlyn responded with a loud groan. "Mornin already? I feel like I just fell asleep..." She rubbed her eyes to try to push the sleep away. Blearly eye she looks around the room for the disembodied voice of Holiday, stopping when she sees the mostly empty glass quart jar she had opened last night. The room smelled of the clear liquor she had made two days ago, harsh like a strong disinfectant. Apparently, some had spilled onto the floor when she had passed out. By now it had mostly dried and left some residue on the plascrete floor. "Miss Neilson, it would seem that the optical viewport in your immediate hallway is on the fritz again. I do not think your repair from the fire quite connected the wires correctly. When you have the time, I would like to be able to see you again. Thank you.” "And I told you the connector pins have gone bad. Once the new pins get here I'll replace them. There should be a requisition order in for them. It was a half truth. The pins were bad, and there were new ones requested. The request however was intentionally marked as lowest priority for fulfillment, and there was a small stash of said pins that Gwen had managed to scrounge up and keep off the books. Those were reserved for when the robots needed new one now and could not wait. "Besides you will be able to see me throughout the rest of the day. Now the harvester that is having the malfunction, when can we get it offline for visual inspection?" Gwen asked Holiday while finally dragging herself from her disheveled bed and getting dressed for the day. She picked up the jar and poured the last few drops out into her tea mug. Within fifteen minutes Gwen had finished making her meager breakfast of dried mushroom and powdered egg scrambled with toast. The tea was a simple green with some rose petals to mask the harshness of the little bit of liquor she had added to the tea. While she ate, she reviewed the list of maintenence requests as well as the locations of the possible oil leaks. Kaplan was going to ask about when the oil will be taken care of, Gwen would need to get with Adesso and Arthur to get it figured out and thus keep Kaplan content. Hopefully it wasn't anything critical. The harvester was another puzzle, the maintenance logs on it showed routine work over the last year with nothing noted looking damaged. It was possible that a rock had been mistakenly put in the path of the machine and damaged something. Or it could have been someone was trying to make their own repairs again without notifying her or the other maintenence personnel. Gwen flagged it to be pull from rotation for inspection and repairs as soon as possible, preferably tomorrow, and took a sip from her tea. She put the tablet down taking a break from the list and looked up to the picture she had on the wall. The photo was of her and her parents just before she had completed her apprenticeship as an electrician. They had taken her out to eat at a rather pricy diner, at least by their standards. With a sad smile Gwen picked the tablet up again and started to type out a letter to her father before heading out to start the day.
