As Ivor said the female guard went over some simple basic instructions for Eric while he put his equipment together. "First never aim at something you don't want to hit, even if the safety is on. "Not necessarily, we don't know their anatomy and besides without training you're unlikely to hit anything as small as a head reliably, unless they're close enough for melee combat." When she was done with her explanation she handed a gun to Eric, having already checked for ammo.

Eric without thinking held it by the holster and tried to affix the bayonet, aiming the barrel to his face to better see what he was doing. "Please tell me you know what you're doing wrong there.
