[COLOR=DARKGRAY][indent]In many ways this is your classic Bruce Wayne - his parents died and he began a crusade against crime, travelling the world to learn as many skills as possible to aid in his fight. He came back to Gotham and became Batman, aided by his trusted butler Alfred. Initially he fought against the mob families of Gotham, but over time these were joined by costumed villains such as the Joker and the Riddler. Equally Bruce as also joined by Dick Grayson as Robin, fighting by his side.

The twist is that this story starts when the last of the original crime families is thrown behind bars. The Facones, Maronis and Thornes are all gone now. The usual street crime is still there but organised crime is seemingly coming to an end and that leaves Bruce is a bizarre position. This should be a beautiful moment for him, and it is in many ways, but what is his purpose now that his initial objective has been reached?

Alongside that he's now joined by a new Boy Wonder - Dick has gone his own way (which I intend to keep vague so that if someone wants to use him then they have that flexibility). He's joined instead by Jason, who's only recently become Robin and is not quite the partner that Bruce is used to. Jason pushes against his rules more and is not earning the trust that he is desperately craving.

With the crime families falling apart, something will fill it's place in Gotham and that is the supernatural and the superpowered. Bruce spent years of his life training to fight what he understood of crime, and could even adapt that to criminals like the Joker. But he's now going to come up against superpowered individuals like Dr Phosphorous or creatures like Clayface. This take on Batman and Robin, while very much based on the classic iteration, will lean more heavily into the more bizarre and wilder parts of the Batman canon and away from the classic mob bosses and criminals. It will be a slow transition, but it's all the next major test for Batman and Robin.

[COLOR=DARKGRAY][INDENT]Obviously playing Batman is a very appealing prospect as he's such a renowned character with such a varied history and lore. The fact that this RP allows for it to not be Bruce in Year One made it very enticing for me, as I feel like there's a lot that could be explored with a Batman further down the line who has got over the initial trials of being a hero and now has to face new ones. 

Setting this in a situation where Bruce isn't used to superpowered criminals yet gave me an interesting hook of a man who thinks he knows everything but really doesn't. He's not only on the backfoot from being in the unknown with his villains, but his sense of purpose is also challenged with that as the question of when his crusade will end and how much can he actually handle is on his mind.

Plus, he has a new partner who he is not clicking with. I've always been a big fan of the Batman and Robin duo and often prefer it to Batman by himself, and Jason as Robin is something that feels quite untapped and has the potential to go in a variety of directions. He has all the skill to be the perfect partner, but his approach is all wrong and he doesn't quite understand Batman's rules and where the line is for him.

These personal dilemmas and putting them both in uncomfortable positions is what intrigued me about writing these two characters. The goal is to watch the two develop and see Batman become a hero who can take on these monsters beyond his imagination, while Jason has to work out if he can even be the hero that is expected of him.

I plan to initially do individual cases, with the threats becoming more monstrous and supernatural as Gotham changes into a more weird and interesting place.
