His face still has a boyish look to it, topped by a mop of silver hair with a bit of an undercut. He's got a mouth of sharp teeth and bright golden eyes, a mole sitting just under the left one. He is pierced in both ears, his tongue, and one other place. Perpetually "thinking about getting a tattoo."

[row][cell] __________________________________________________[/cell][cell] [/cell][/row]

Even after transforming with a symbolic touch of his grimoire (because "it makes [him] feel more like a super hero"), Roland retains a lot of the features of his true body. His hair, skin, and eyes all remain the same color, his teeth are just as mysteriously sharp, but he does shrink about two inches (~5cm). His hair also grows out to just brush the tops of his shoulders. He slims down in order to rock his esper form's battle suit, which is less a suit and more unitard and skirt with pieces of tech armor. The biggest difference, of course, is that his sex changes.

On a beach trip, one supposes that Roland's -or rather Jack's- appropriate attire would be something like this, minus the metal bits. Just about as long as Jack is tall in her esper form. A sturdy two-handed weapon for killing monsters up close and people from afar. When manifested during the beach trip, it instead takes the form of a huge water gun made of clear gray plastic, with squishy yellow foam wrapped around the barrel. The armored portions feature a subtle arcane glow. The few golden spikes are meant to match with the golden blade of her instrument. The ones on her head invoke the image of a crown, or maybe horns, depending on who you ask. This note does not have the same effect on targets with construction-like appearances, such as espers or monsters with more durable flesh. It does do extra damage to and can even bypass buffs like Shield and Reflect.
Enhanced Note (2) {Quake (2) ➜ Quake β (3)}
Uses seismic-like force to damage a target. The damage dealt is comparable to a damage note but does significantly more damage to structures and hard targets such as shields, shells, or hard bodied constructs. Higher grades of note can break through tougher, thicker materials. Targets with hardened bodies such as certain espers or monstrous golems can have their defenses compromised, weakening the area of impact as well as dealing a heightened level of damage. This note can even bypass buffs like Shield and Reflect, but still cannot damage an instrument or other parts that are totally indestructible.
Routine (2) {Quake (2)} Routine (2) {Backfeed (1)}
DESCRIPTION: Sure there are a few utility notes in Jack's arsenal, but her casting is more geared towards supporting an aggressive fighting style, especially while using her instrument. Definitely more raw than refined. He's fairly friendly, a little mischievous, and knows his way around. He was never all that good at book learning anyway so its obvious he lags a little behind on it, but he's made a ton of progress!
LEITMOTIF:
FACTION: ?? WATCHER: Aigorost, Beyond the Veil of Reality
TRIVIA:

Born June 30, a Cancer
Easily won over by home cooked meals
Regularly loans his mom money

As the only child of the 'princess of partying' whom even his father was unable to tame, Roland's childhood in Pax Septimus was tumultuous to say the least. It was always a little unstable, a little dangerous, crowded with strange or familiar faces and filled with light, sound, and smoke. Rarely was it boring, especially after it was just gongzhu and shaoye - the facetious nicknames given to mother and son by the more friendly of the family's acquaintances. There is a fine line between a city's face and underbelly, and it was on that line that the two of them lived. Whenever one district of the ol' Pax started getting too sordid for even the princess to stomach, or the local landlord too dickish to tolerate, they just moved to the next place, drumming up funds to splurge on the next club crawl she'd drag her kid to (babysitting was expensive). Though Roland wouldn't realize it until later, it was pretty lucky that the two of them never really ran afoul of either the city's organized crime or its monsters. There were a number of close calls to be sure, and his mother had definitely rubbed elbows with some of the former before, but for the most part they managed to slip through the cracks between both hope and despair. At least until that day, the coincidental meeting that would change the course of the shaoye's life. By the time he'd made it to his rebellious early teenage years, Roland had come to appreciate those rare boring times that popped up every now and then. Peace and quiet was hard to come by living with his mother, and he was at the age where he would often go off on his own with a promise to meet back up again later, or the next day, or the one after that. At a failing cafe on a seedy street just after sun down where Roland was chilling for some of that temporary peace, the building next door exploded. Figuratively, but also sort of literally, as people spilled from its exits and the first floor was blown out, showering the area in glass, debris, and monster guts. Then, they appeared, strolling out of the ruined business like they didn't have a care in the world. They disappeared just as quickly, and no matter where Roland looked he couldn't seem to find them. No one really believed the story when he recounted it either, besides some conspiracy theorists. Roland might have become one himself if he hadn't seen them again by complete chance a few months later, when a violent altercation broke out in a billiards parlor he happened to be in, convincing a man to bet his shiny belt buckle on the next game. The fight, orchestrated by a monster as Roland would come to learn, would have swiftly spiraled even more out of control if not for the timely arrival of an esper to quell the chaos. This time they did not get away without Roland confronting them. He was fifteen at the time, one of the few still conscious, a cut above his brow dribbling blood down his face. And he demanded to know what was going on and where those cool powers come from. Maybe this esper took a liking to a spirited boy like Roland, or maybe the inactive grimoire clutched in his fist starting to awaken got their notice. Maybe it was another reason entirely that they relented and took Roland under their wing. As it turned out, 'boring' was not what Roland had actually been looking for - he'd just wanted a change. He eagerly left his mother to her own vices to travel with the esper, spending almost all his time with his new master as he learned their trade and traveled the east coast. They were a strict teacher, but this lifestyle better suited Roland than just letting himself drift along with his birth city's flow... even if his louche upbringing was still very much present in his personality, he definitely had changed for the better. After five years away he returns to Pax Septimus as an esper himself, hoping to be truly acknowledged by the person he admires so much who he recently split up from. Due to the spell affecting the city, he's sure his homecoming will be an interesting one.
