He's meticulous, careful with his observations, and spends what many would consider far too much time scrutinizing again what is widely believed to be fact. It's a habit that stretches the patience of those orbiting closest to him, but it's also a pace he's comfortable with. A pace for which it would be impossible to make another mistake. tenacious - or as some would put it, "you're awfully persistent," "you're not going to let this go, are you?" or "what are you doing in my house?!" There are the breadcrumbs that make up the broken trail followed by the typical detectives to its natural conclusion. Then there is Noah who will follow a ghost to their past life in the hopes that the dead can provide answers he can find nowhere else. independent - Not as a measure of self-reliance. Having abandoned the safe and legally bound box that was traditional law enforcement regulation and tactics, Noah is free to discreetly use any means to find the answers he needs short of felony acts of crime… for the most part. He acts within reason and with his safety in mind and is conscious of how his conduct will not only affect himself and his client but also the people and establishments he investigates. W E A K N E S S E S puzzles - Answers are to Noah what finding gold was to Custer. There’s always a concrete truth buried in the dirt or etched into stone. History has proven that. So has nature itself where the bounties of science and technology and wealth begin in the ground and rock and foundation of the Earth itself and are reaped by those willing to find them. Noah is willing, but the drive is a want that more often than not supersedes need. Tenacity can become an obsession too easily for him. survivalism - Nill. Naoh's life was lived within the boundaries of developed cities and towns and even the smaller villages he'd visit for work had running water and a table to eat warm food at. While he's gone on his fair share of hikes, he has never once slept in the cold embrace of a night sky. He could not say for certain if he's taken any time to look at the stars, though if asked he'd say there's nothing up there for him but dark and pin points of light too far away for him to care about. This is not to be confused with an inability to track through the woods or to identify flora and fauna, he simply could not survive in the woods alone for more than a single night with nothing more than a knife and the clothes on his back. investment - Emotionally. There was a time before when there was a distance between himself and the victims he was witness too, no matter how thinly that space was between him and them. Becoming a detective closed that distance. Becoming a PI has embedded him in the lives of those he works with and against and the pain and guilt that they feel will often becomes his. The first was the heaviest and has never left. Every one after that is another weight added to the pile liable to crush him. He had hoped his work would lighten the guilt. [sup]__________________________________________________________________________________[/sup] P E R S O N A L I T Y affable.... | .... servicing.... | .... observant.... | .... organized.... | .... agnostic H I S T O R Y Noah grew up in and around Winchester County, New York to a family with deep ties to the history of the continental East coast all the way back to the colonial days. Parts of his family were on both sides of the Civil War and were involved heavily in the political and social issues plaguing a rapidly developing country due in part to activity in and around a number of islands off the coast. That is to say, dark stains exist in the shadow that is the legacy of his family name and are forever thread through the tapestry that is their past. The history that has survived to the present day represents attempts to change the narrative through a generational game of telephone. Stories exist in the centuries of time between then and now, filling the void of history, coloring it just barely within the lines with a story that blurs the truth. Of wealth built on sacrifice but lost to time. Of a whole branch of the family tree clipped in a single night. Of a man, who rode through the south like wind across swept trees. Like the word of God itself, smiting those who hid sin deep in their hearts or held it in their hand against the backs of other men. A supernatural force of absolute justice that many would have Noah believe was also an ancestral guardian tied to their name. Noah was ever the skeptic. He never believed in superstition or in legends spun from the mundane events as told by the unreliable narrator. He never believed a man could ride through town, murder everyone and walk out unscathed or even untouched by the law. But he did believe it made for good pep talk. It was no coincidence his family had a proclivity toward law enforcement. His father, his before him and on and on were all part of the NYPD and as far as anyone was willing to say, they were all good at it. Natural even. There had been a few captains in his family, most of them a few generations back where their blood ran truer. Tougher. These days, making it through the academy was the bare minimum, but stagnation was a common end result. And so it was that Noah’s life coasted through his early twenties to mid thirties, perfecting the motions of a life lived a thousand times before. Moving a piece of the puzzle into place only for the table to shift an inch every day, forming the shape of a question in the empty spaces. Echoing a buried thought that there was something more. And so a change was inevitable. The transfer to detective was a natural move if a little late, but it was the first step toward a catalyst that would set him on his path. Two years would see him shifting through a world of tangled webs and buried clues, blindfolded and with both hands behind his back, and it would be these same constraints that would see him following a lead too long holding a carrot forever out of his reach… until it wasn’t, frozen as it was in the basement of a modest suburban home. Today, Noah owns the investigative firm Irving Investigations located in upstate New York, established a little over a decade ago when he finally left the New York Police Department for good. In that time, he’s built a reputation for himself and his firm of pursuing particularly difficult missing persons cold cases and more importantly, closing them. He currently lives in Ossining, New York in an apartment. [sup]__________________________________________________________________________________[/sup] hex . | . #bca346........ faceclaim . | . ben barnes ........ creator . | . exit[/sup][/cell] [/row]

. .
