Hmm, 'You know each other through cryptozoology and conspiracy theory websites.' sounds right to me. 

And heres one I chose for Loch (^ ᴗ ^)
'Good friends. Tell them if it’s from way back, or recently.' I like the idea that Silvio became friends with them recently through the websites.
