She had a couple of hours still, and the hottest part of the day had started to dissipate. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better. She’d have to make sure she devoted the earlier part of the day to the trails so the later part could be used for cooler things. The breeze helped. She shivered slightly as it wrapped around her. Em took a deep breath of the fresh air. She coughed slightly. No, not fresh. Something acrid rode the wind. It wasn’t quite sulfur but it made her think of it nonetheless. Then the smell was gone. Maybe some creature had had a really nasty poop upwind of her. She saw the trio heading toward the big house. It looked like they had figured it out and at least Nancy was mostly walking under her own power. She was using her brother for stability but didn’t seem to be leaning on him. Em nodded and grabbed the wheelbarrow she had been using and started up toward the trail she had last been working on. All of the debris she had pulled would be good for a fire later.
