The sound of clacking keys repeated in a pilot’s cabin, a girl in flower-patterned pajamas typing away on her computer. While normally reserved for software engineers aboard Solaire, Elora had requested a workstation for her to process the data accumulated by Logic Diver. While a lot of the workflow was automated with the aid of artificial intelligence, Elora needed to parse through and adjust the weighting for data priority: terrain formation, positioning and movement, weapon accuracy, and so on. However, the clacking then stopped, as her eyes drifted over to a notification of an incoming message. Her eyes widened upon seeing the sender’s name. “Oh no…Did I do something wrong…again?” She opened the message, her fearful eyes skimming over Ava’s suggestions. “Oh…Uh…” Elora wondered about what she should write back, worried about incurring the squad leader’s wrath: she didn’t know Ava too well, but based on the few times she’s seen her she seemed very serious and no nonsense. Regardless, she had more confidence speaking her mind over the network than face-to-face, and so she sent a response: Corporal Lane, Thank you for your advice and suggestions. I previously considered swapping Logic Diver’s Automatic Battle Rifle for a Gatling Gun, as I felt that my Primary Weapon System was not sufficient to provide fire support on the field. I also believe I could handle the increased recoil thanks to my training. However, your suggestions to swap the Cloaking Field for better mobility is not something I have considered. At first, I thought I could provide intelligence from the shadows, but the recent battle proved those tactics can be subverted by the enemy. Perhaps a shift to a less solitary role and integrating more to the squad might be for the better. I will need to think on this. Thank you for being fair with your criticisms. I hope, that, should your schedule permit, we could spend some time discussing new tactics based on data I have accumulated. Signed, Cadet Elora Liu’un. With a wary finger, she pressed the send key, then sighed deeply. She shut the computer and tucked herself under the sheets, soon in restless sleep.
