I’ve been hoping for a period superhero thing to sprout up! He is widely regarded as one of the smartest human beings on the planet though and has a natural aptitude for having natural aptitudes - meaning he is an extremely fast learning in anything he decides to put his mind to. His skills are almost too numerous to list, but among them are the following:

Brilliant engineer and inventor.
Expert pilot.
Skilled boxer and fencer.
Accomplished mountaineer and survivalist.
Talented linguist and archaeologist.
Extensive knowledge of history, geography and natural sciences.
This has served him well as it is. But his equipment is what levels the playing field in a world of gods and monsters. The Surveyor A custom-made ebony cane carried by the Blackwood family for generations. Initially serving as a simple walking support for one of his ancestors, it has now been improved and adapted through the years to serve many purposes. Functions as:

Walking stick.
Telescope.
Surveying instrument.
Concealed sword.
Climbing aid.
Grapnel launcher
Rifle with scope
The Pathfinder Harness A reinforced climbing and exploration harness worn beneath his clothing. This is the real meat and potatoes of Alistair’s equipment, and is of his own design and entirely unique to him. Contains:

Compressed cable launcher.
Emergency breathing apparatus.
Climbing spikes.
Utility tools.
Protective padding capable of withstanding impact and bullets to a degree. Reinforced Gauntlets
Spring-loaded supports built in to the legs
Medical supplies
Designed to help him survive expeditions that would kill ordinary men. It also can be altered and upgraded to suit the needs of a particular expedition. Things like diving gear, arctic equipment, etc. Expedition Satchel Filled with notebooks, maps, climbing gear, field medicine, survival equipment and whatever peculiar invention he happens to be testing that week. Weaknesses - Outside of his equipment, Alistair is entirely human and susceptible to all the regular human ailments. The Pathfinder while durable is not on the level of another superheroes genetic durability. It can only withstand so much damage or attack before it stops being as good at keeping him alive. Personality - Curious - Courageous - Gentlemanly - Gallant - Indomitable Experience - 10 years in the “costume”. Appearance - Lord Alistair Blackwood is a handsome, athletic Englishman of 29, standing just over six feet tall. Years spent climbing mountains, crossing deserts and sailing unknown seas have left him fit and broad-shouldered, though he lacks the exaggerated physique of a prize fighter. Thick sandy-brown hair has a habit of falling untidily across his forehead, whilst a neatly kept moustache lends him the air of an old cavalry officer or gentleman explorer. His features are open and expressive, more likely to wear an amused smile than a stern expression. Lord Alistair Blackwood dresses for adventure rather than fashion. His trademark field attire centres around a tailored scarlet expedition coat, inspired by old Blackwood family military dress but altered for practicality. Worn and repaired countless times, it bears the marks of years spent crossing deserts, climbing mountains and escaping the occasional disaster. Beneath the coat rests the Pathfinder Harness, concealed beneath a sturdy waistcoat and shirt, whilst leather gloves, dark riding breeches and hard-wearing riding boots complete the ensemble. A pair of polished brass goggles usually hang around his neck, ready for flying, engineering work or harsh weather, and his satchel rarely leaves his side. The finishing touch is The Surveyor, the ebony walking cane carried by generations of the Blackwood family. Whether attending a dinner party in London or leading an expedition into the unknown, Alistair is seldom seen without it. The combination of scarlet coat, brass goggles and cane has become so distinctive that newspapers can identify Lord Blackwood from a considerable distance, much to his occasional annoyance. BRIEF Bio - Born into a minor aristocratic family in Northumberland, Lord Alistair Blackwood inherited a legacy unlike any other. Whilst most noble houses made their fortunes through politics or war, the Blackwoods built theirs by exploring the world’s forgotten corners. For generations they funded expeditions, archaeological digs and scientific ventures, filling the halls of Blackwood Manor with strange artefacts, curious inventions and journals detailing places that had vanished from the map. The Prometheus Society was founded by his lineage centuries ago with the sole purpose of funding the pursuit of knowledge and exploration. Educated as both a gentleman and an explorer, Alistair grew into an accomplished engineer, pilot and adventurer, travelling the globe in pursuit of new discoveries. His exploits soon earned him a reputation in newspapers across Britain, where his distinctive scarlet field uniform saw him gain worldwide recognition for his daring tales of adventure and exploration. Following the mysterious disappearance of his parents during a Himalayan expedition, Alistair inherited the Blackwood estate and its responsibilities. Amongst the family archives he discovered references to lost expeditions, altered maps and discoveries deliberately struck from the record. Convinced there are still wonders waiting to be found, he has devoted his life to finishing the work his family began, uncovering history’s greatest mysteries and ensuring that knowledge is preserved rather than exploited. His explorations have often brought him head to head with opposing German scientists seeking to use the mystical artefacts for their own evil occult gain. With the advent of the oncoming war he has sought to make himself and the resources of the Prometheus Society useful within the war effort. Potential Storylines -

Searching for the fate of his missing parents and their final expedition.
Racing rival explorers, criminals and enemy powers to recover lost treasures and ancient discoveries.
Battling Nazi expeditions and occult organisations seeking powerful artefacts during the Second World War.
Leading expeditions into forgotten cities, hidden valleys and unexplored regions of the globe.
Uncovering the truth behind strange omissions and coded messages hidden throughout the Blackwood family archives.
Lending his expertise to fellow heroes, providing inventions, transport and hard-won knowledge of the world’s stranger corners.
Expanding the reputation of the Prometheus Society, proving that there are still blank spaces left upon the map and adventures yet to be had.
Additional Notes -
