He couldn't hear her over how loud his heart was pounding. All he could think about was how her waist fit in between his arms and how she felt in his hands as he gripped her though he could not ignore how slender her fingers were, how soft the curls of her auburn hair were, or she pressed against him. He wondered if she could feel his heartbeat and prayed to whichever god that would listen to him that she wouldn't. Maybe she already was aware. He had never seen anyone blush as furiously as her before and that in turn made his face blush with the same vibrancy of her. She was completely still in his arms as if reality would simply ignore them if they just did not move a muscle. Maybe if he didn't move either then maybe the world could stand still if for only a moment? Gods above, maybe he was greedy. Slowly, Nolan helped Marnie back on her feet and removed his hands from her though his body betrayed him for they lingered longer than they meant to. He could still feel her warmth pressed against him still. "I, uh, um..." Nolan stammered out as he tried to get the words to leave his mouth. "I'm sorry. We were falling and I just grabbed...whatever to keep you up." His hands gestured towards her. This was an absolute mess. It was just supposed to be a dance, not a fucking circus. Why did things just never go to plan? "Maybe it really is better if I just stay on the sidelines," said the noble with a dry laugh.
