Well, to their credit they appear to know what they want.

Problem is when I was 18-20 my interests can be best summed up as a particular stack of memes:

Your guess is as good as mine as to who had more fun as a teenager. But I do know that I was playing towards my strengths at the time.

Call it a little pragmatic, but those sorts of RPs hit the same feelings differently.
