Yo. Color me interested. There are some details the main post implies I should ask about, (which I think will be self-evident) but I decided to go ahead and put together my app first since I had the character ready. If anything needs to be changed I'll edit it accordingly. He is above-average height, standing at 5'11", and has a relatively wiry build from rigidly regimented exercise. Personality: Felix is an intense person, simultaneously excitable and serious. He has a no-nonsense demeanor that belies his hasty nature, and he generally tries to cut right through to the heart of matters, whether it be because they interest him or so that he can move past them. He is relentless when it comes to his goals, and while he can be patient, he strongly prefers decisive action over the wait-and-see approach. He often becomes laser-focused on subjects of his interest, to the exclusion of all else, and to the extent that he often forgets to eat or sleep. While he may seem impulsive at times, he is enough of a realist to know to prepare properly, and is relatively comfortable taking on inconveniences if it brings him closer to his goals. Because of these traits, he has a bad habit of overlooking or disregarding rules or risks when it suits him, though he isn't particularly competitive, and is generally honest to a fault. Backstory: Born an only child and raised on the northern end of Hoenn's route 111, Felix grew up lacking any friends his age, and often had to find ways of playing all by himself. For better or for worse, Hoenn's only major desert was always just a short walk away, although the ash-covered route 113 and its devious lurking Skarmory wasn't a much better option. For as long as he could remember, he's always been drawn to the mystery of the desert's ruins, and as a matter of living there, his family had to get him go-goggles of his very own for the rare occasions when sandstorms blew out from the desert. He's been relying on one pair of go-goggles or another for so long that nowadays, he feels naked without them. Although he originally wasn't allowed to enter the desert without supervision, his proclivity to explore it day after day wore down their wariness until his parents allowed him to go it alone, as long as he brought along one of their teleporting pokémon, Claydol or Xatu. Although he was supposed to teleport away at the first sign of trouble, his desire to explore the bizarre, seemingly disappearing and reappearing structures found there led him to push for more, and sometimes Claydol or Xatu would humor him. While they could handle most wild pokémon themselves, it also offered Felix the opportunity to take up the role of pokémon trainer by commanding them in battle. He liked the experience, and how it brought him closer to the pokémon that were essentially already family. As he grew older, so too did his hobbies evolve, though his fascination with old ruins and other such liminal spaces remained. During school breaks, he'd ask his family to travel to other ruins and anomalous locations around Hoenn, such as Route 105, Route 120, Sky Pillar, or the Abandoned Ship on Route 108. He even got them to help him look for Mirage Island, but ultimately they couldn't find it. Felix has always excelled in academics, from math to science to history to P.E. As such, he graduated summa cum laude at Mauville high, and after a couple of applications, he secured an offer from the Eidda historical society thanks to a paper he wrote on Route 111's mirage tower. In essence, they would pay him for his findings on the local ruins and certain other areas of note. Field work in abandoned ruins often meant braving dangerous areas, and Felix certainly had no lack of curiosity regarding legendary pokémon themselves. Both meant Felix needed strong pokémon by his side, and if he was going to document his explorations of mysterious and long-abandoned places, he might as well use it to fund further travels. After considering his options, Felix decided to try catching a wild Flygon he knew about on Route 111. With Xatu and Claydol's help, he figured he could do it. He even managed to win against it, despite it finally being an even battle with his parent's pokémon. However, after the battle, as Flygon lay on the sand, exhausted, a number of Trapinch emerged from the sand to gather around them. Realizing the Trapinch needed Flygon's protection, he decided to leave, opting to look for a starter on another route. When he returned home, his parents informed him that a Trapinch had followed him home, which he welcomed with open arms. With his first pokémon by his side, he was ready to move to Eidda. That being said, he'd need to spend time catching more pokémon and raising them all up once he got there, so he applied to the professor of the region, only to get a cryptic email in reply that implied he had gotten the sponsorship. In any case, he packed up his camping gear, preparing to spend inordinate amounts of time away from civilization, and made his way to Byjerlfal. Talents/Quirks:

Shockingly good survivalist, was taught camping, foraging, and various water filtration techniques due to all the time he spends outside and the location he grew up in. Could easily have become a pokémon ranger if he felt so inclined.
Very good at math and logic puzzles. Mostly alternates between Futoshiki, Kakuro, Nonogram, or Sudoku puzzles on his phone when he has nothing else to do. Hates trick questions and lateral thinking puzzles.
Wants to poke and prod just about every legendary, mythical, and particularly rare pokémon out there. The number he would actually want to own and take responsibility for, he could count on one hand, maybe two if he squinted.
Aspirations: Felix mostly wants to explore and satiate his curiosity about legendary/mythical pokémon ancient ruins, and unexplained phenomena, which are not always different things. He needs powerful pokémon partners to achieve that, though he mostly views that strength as a means to an end rather than part of the ultimate goal. That being said, he also enjoys battling, and wouldn't mind becoming a strong trainer just for the sake of it. Favorite Genre of Pokémon: Felix has an inexplicable affinity toward pokémon with angular features.
Inventory

1000
Go-Goggles
Escape Rope
Camping Gear
Various Hygienic and Personal effects
Items:

Potion x1

Species: Trapinch Type: Ground Gender: ♂ Level: 5 Moves:

First Impression
Astonish
Sand Attack
Ability: Arena Trap Held Item: N/A Nature: Hasty, not unlike his trainer. Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: Pokémon are just as much characters as the trainers themselves. Regardless, do they have any?
