Profile
Name: Miharu Agawa Gender: Female Age: 20 Hometown: Kantona City, Eidda Appearance: Stands tall at 5’10”, with a generally calm demeanor and a moderately fit build. Has enough tone to show signs of favoring cardio. Typically wears comfortable street clothing such as bomber jackets, jeans, and sensible shoes. The cut and quality of her garments are good enough to suggest a decently comfortable background, though they’re certainly not luxury pieces. An old C-Gear model Poketch with attached Xtransceiver is wrapped around her left wrist, and she lugs a worn canvas backpack along on both shoulders. Personality: Serene and polite, Miharu has the benefit of not suffering from a raging overdose of puberty-induced hormones, owing to being a grown adult, if just barely. As such, she usually strives to put forward a composed front, greeting unexpected situations with a slight smile and a subtle tilt of the head. It’s a testament to her training and experience in the service industry that even people and scenarios she dislikes are met with the same smile, if slightly colder. Even when breaking from this front and expressing something rude, Miharu will say it in either a deadpan or a canned, cheery retail worker voice. There’s little interest in books or the indoors for Miharu, and she seeks adventure in the outdoors. The thrill of Pokemon battling is something that brings genuine excitement from her, even if it’s not too noticeable at first glance. Backstory: The Agawa Teahouse was a Celadonian institution spanning two hundred years of rich history. Two hundred years that were wiped out in the span of a particularly bad year of business, followed by the offer of a corporate buyout for the building and land from Silph. It was to two Kantonian immigrants from Celadon rebuilding the family business that Miharu was born to, and subsequently saddled with the expectation of one day inheriting the New Agawa Teahouse in the outskirts of Kantona City. Her childhood was otherwise normal outside of constantly working in and learning about the family business, with no small amount of training regarding the preparation and serving of traditional tea and accompaniments. While Miharu tolerated all of the expectations and hassle, her true interest laid in the outdoors. The vast majority of her free time was spent exploring as best she could on a tiny island with nothing surrounding it but sea, eventually finding a few hidden grottoes here and there on the shores. Outside of that, she whiled away afternoons fishing up catches to eat and dreaming of having a real adventure in the wilds. This chafed with her parents, both of whom would have preferred she take up hobbies more suited towards her future, namely flower arranging or some other sort of refined, traditional pastime. This friction only grew as Miharu went through her teenage years and high school, but she managed to keep her balance for a time. Until graduation, at least. Once she was finished with school, Miharu’s parents expected her to devote all of her time to the family business. Absolutely minimal time to herself, and all work and teahouse from then on. As expected, this went poorly. The final straw on Miharu’s end came from when she befriended a Mankey that had hitched a ship ride from Kanto and brought it home, only to be told by her parents that such a Pokemon wasn’t suitable to the establishment’s atmosphere. In their eyes, they would have preferred something such as a Grass or Psychic type. But a Fighting monkey? That was beyond the pale to them. And their reaction was beyond the pale to her. It was this specific clash between Miharu and her parents which convinced her that acting according to their wishes was hardly the blueprint she wanted for her future. She never cut ties with the Mankey, of course. Instead, Miharu helped him establish a shelter in one of the coastal grottoes she’d discovered in her childhood, and brought food and potable water over regularly. Over the course of the next several months, she started to look for a way out. Something to support herself while living the life she wished for. As it turned out, the Professor’s job listing was perfect in that regard. She sent her application out, and when it was accepted, promptly packed up everything she needed and formally captured the Mankey she’d befriended, finally bestowing it with a name before setting out by boat. Perhaps she’d come to terms with everything and return one day. Perhaps she wouldn’t. Either way, Miharu resolved to not have to regret the choices she made from then on.
