Toshi is the greatest. Grand soliloquies could and should be written about his sheer unbridled "awesomeness". His jokes are the peak of comedy, and his pokémon are all without equal. Oh, and the humility! Bro's been awarded the definitely real title of "most humble person in all of Eidda" for five years running, and wouldn't you know it, he's about to become the greatest trainer who ever lived. Truly, he is, and could only ever be, the greatest of all time. Totally.

[color=#ffe150][b]Backstory:[/b][/color] Toshi's upbringing was relatively uneventful up until his application for a sponsorship with professor Camphor was unexpectedly and [i]unusually[/i] accepted. It was time for him to go on a pokémon journey, which meant leaving his family and hometown behind. Maybe for good, if things worked out.

Toshi's relationship with his parents is complicated. They are old, stuck in their ways, and disapproving of his aspirations. They are also just not very good at parenting, and seemingly have no interest in connecting with him on a personal level. They are neglectful in a non-malicious way, give pretty terrible advice, and when Toshi imagines the worst personality a person can have, various aspects of his parents immediately come to mind. Toshi has long since come to the decision that his parents do not deserve to be a part of his life. Nonetheless, he is dependent on them, and even if he wasn't, the idea of them passing away would still scare him. Toshi has a few siblings whom he loves and adores, and he is the oldest among them, if only barely. His relationship with them tends to be jokingly adversarial, though the second oldest, his sister, gave him a good-luck charm before he left home.

Toshi was raised by television, so to speak, and found himself drawn to the pokémon league circuit from a young age. His parents have always demonstrated contempt for the idea of him becoming a pokémon trainer, but otherwise didn't try to stop him from becoming one. He studied videos of top trainers, dreaming one day of not just becoming one of them, but the best to ever do it. Whether he ever gets there or not, now's his chance.

[color=#ffe150][b]Aspirations:[/b][/color] Toshi wants to be the best pokémon trainer he possibly can be, of course. He wants fame and fortune and the strongest team of pokémon he can imagine, who all love him for being a better caretaker than his parents ever were for him. But, more important than all of that, he wants to love himself, which, sometimes, he just doesn't. Not good at anything, super annoying, boring, stupid, unreliable, and never, ever enough. Sometimes he feels like all his personality boils down to is constantly trying to make sure no one realizes it. So, above all, his goal is to be able to say he is the greatest, and mean it. Fake it 'til you make it, as they say.
