She dusted off her suit and fixed her hair with a quiet sigh. That had been one of the creepiest things she had encountered. A dance with a count who worshipped the dark lords wasn’t on her bucket list, but it had happened. Elena thought of what the papers might say and rolled her eyes. As long as her siblings and Amira remained safe, it had been a notable sacrifice. She had at least become diplomatic and left on a fair note–though she hadn’t left the door open for more interactions. As she perused the dance floor, Elena glanced around for her siblings. They weren’t anywhere to be found, so she crossed over to the side to watch the dancers. Magnus was likely to be with them so she could relax. She grabbed some cookies and a drink to nibble on and distract herself from the horrid start to her evening. There were familiar people but none she dared interrupt so she studied everyone–who was dancing with who, the idle gossip and chitchat around her, and the atmosphere of the room. There was some kind of tension lingering, however King Edin was attempting to smooth it over. That’s when a dark figure caught her attention: Shehzade Aslam. Elena glanced up at him and for a moment, she admired his features. She smiled politely over at him and waved to catch his attention. ”Good evening, Shehzade.” Elena bowed in the traditional Alidasht fashion. She had read books regarding their customs to prepare for the courting season.
