Not remarkably tall, with a lean, mildly athletic build. » Golden-yellow eyes that are always analyzing, scrutinizing, judging. » Known for his iconic yellow cloak. Its edges are frayed from years of abuse. » The cloak's hood seems to always be worn up, even when alone. » Underneath the cloak appears to be some semblance of disheveled formal attire. » Sarcastic and derisive; doesn't hold back voicing his opinion on anything. » Jaded and cynical, trusting nothing and no one; wary of surroundings and expects the worst. » Cunning, prone to scheming and strategizing... though his elaborate plans rarely work out. » Can be impulsive and easily provoked, which usually ends poorly for him. » Probably likes others more than he lets on, though he'd never admit it. 【 Ideals 】 » Freedom – To liberate himself from the side-effects of his curse, or remove it entirely. » Power – So that no demon can hold authority over him. The tricky part is to not become one himself.

Going simply by Syd - probably not his full or real name - his history is shrouded in mystery, and he likes to keep it that way. He doesn't tend to confide in others, and when pressed for details, they're typically met with contempt, sarcasm, or some variant of dismissing the question entirely. Not much is known about him, other than his absolute hatred for demons, devils, and any infernal creature. He's spent a good chunk of his life learning to fight, survive, and end them. Nothing brings him more satisfaction. It seems he has some tie to occult magic, and thinks himself "cursed". This "curse" both facilitates his strange shadow abilities, and hinders his everyday life. It's a mixed bag; a double-edged sword. On one hand, he can use these abilities against the demons he hunts, as well as other foes. On the other, the power seems to come from some fragment of the fell itself. It sees him, knows him. Using it is like an open invitation. It takes without asking, and the demand can be great. Thanks to who he calls "the old hag" pointing him in the right direction, he's now come to Wellspring Tavern seeking to enter the Darkmere: the source of the demons he's spent his adult life hunting, the birth of his curse, and the cause of what started his journey to begin with. It's here that he's heard an ancient artifact can be found amidst the Lich's domain. One that can either lift his curse, or propel it to heights above its own limited faculties of taking more than it gives.

【 Rogue 】 » Uses twin daggers as primary weapons. Carries multiple, and doesn't mind throwing them around. » Flexible and agile, relying on evasion rather than armored defense. If hit, the damage can be deadly. » Much quicker thanks to using light armor. However, if something's faster than him, he's sunk. » Utilizes swift, precise strikes in critical spots rather than brute force. He cannot simply overpower most enemies. » Decent at lock-picking and trap disarmament, though it takes time. It can also backfire, and has. » Very keen on immediate surroundings, with high perception. This also leaves little room to rest, always on-edge. » Travels light, but prone to carrying lockpicks, small assorted bombs, and toxins. 【 Shadow Assassin 】 » Thanks to his curse, he's best suited for the shadows. » Positioning and stealth have served him well, able to cloak himself in darkness and blend into the void. » Able to use shadow step to phase in and out of the physical plane for very small intervals. » If coating his blade in shadow, it can siphon energy from a living target. » Can use a coated thrown dagger to disburse and reappear where that dagger is thrown. » However, for relying so much on stealth, the fell can always sense him. It's always watching. » Intelligent creatures can see where he goes when he shadow-steps. » Siphoning anything dead is negated energy, and has no effect. » Using these shadow abilities at all drains his own life force, corrupts his body, and infests his mind. » The power wants to be used. It has a certain authority. It feels good using it in the moment. 【 Demon Hunter 】 » Knowledgeable about the infernal. Their nature, how to handle encounters, and what to look out for. » Carries specific items used to combat the infernal. Blessed salt, black resin, sunfire oil, etc. » Can sense demonic energy. Good for gauging potential rift activity and threat levels. » The infernal can sense him too. They've followed him for years. » There's one devil in particular he's looking for. Hasn't found it yet. Doesn't even know its true name.

【 Armor 】 Warding Cloak » The yellow cloak he's known for always donning. » Was crafted for a specific purpose and is relied heavily upon. » Threaded with protective sigils, made to dampen his power's constant energy signal. » This helps conceal him from the fell, and the demons he hunts. » Works great against lesser fell creatures. » More intelligent and powerful fell creatures, not so much. » Rarely takes it off, keeping the hood up for good measure.

【 Weapon 】 Blade Sets » One set of knifes are faceted on each side, concealed beneath his cloak. » Carries another set on the backside of his belt at all times. » Each set of blades have their own purpose for use, and are interchangeable. » The first primary set is made of steel. Ordinary. Great for typical mortal encounters. » The other set was made to combat that beyond the mortal. » Rather than being made purely of steel, they're plated in cold silver. » The plating makes them not as effective against the living, and brittle to heavy force. » But against the dead or corrupted, they're more lethal.

【 Item 】 Sunfire Oil » Burns with a brilliant white flame. » Harmless to the living. Burns only corrupted flesh. » Typically applied to weapons or thrown objects. » Kept in a vial glowing in that same brilliant light. » A small amount is potent. However, it wears off fast after initial use. » Has to be careful not to touch it himself - it stings a bit.

• Ability concept largely inspired by D&D's soulknife subclass. • Added Demon Hunter category to BATTLE. • Added INVENTORY segment.
