Just how big was the entirety of Wellspring Tavern?! Hands were shoved deep in his cloak's pockets as he skulked about, mapping out a handful of preparatory errands for the days to come. For those who lingered and went about their business, chatter was rampant. Seemed Wolven's speech had spread like wildfire. It echoed even still. Westmere Outpost decimated. No survivors. It was a good setup for him as far as the campaign to the Darkmere went, but disconcerting that the attack itself was that blatant, that far out from the Darkmere itself. They were getting bolder. If he was a betting man - and he was - if left unchecked, this entire region would be overrun by the end of the year. Looked like this really was the heart of it all. The old him would have bailed out of this area without hesitation, leaving these oblivious fools to their doom. Too bad he couldn't much afford that now. * * * The patrons of this place had plenty to say about the attack, though it was hard to determine source-based truth from embellished rumor. No survivors meant not much left to tell the tale, after all. From what he overheard, the whole place was set ablaze, mangled bodies everywhere, hulking beats of indescribable horror. Sounded about right. Apart from the attack, there was other information sprinkled around. Such as, there was a wizard here, with a very peculiar staff. A wiry half-elf, quiet and nervous. He remembered seeing a sort like that back in the tavern, sitting alone at a table by the wall. Seemed to match well enough. Apparently, he'd been staying here in Wellspring Tavern for a few days now, researching "spooky things". Now that was interesting. There were also stories floating about of Arn Wolven's heroics, sparked by the recent news. Highly skilled. Master of combat with various weapons, or no weapon at all. Had a special sword and shield. Highly decorated in the King's Elite. Slayed various monsters, saved countless lives. Natural-born leader. Blessed by divinity. Legendary. A real, bonafied hero. Damn. If half the stories were true, maybe this journey would go smoother than expected. But something told him even the mighty could be humbled by the hellish nightmare of where they were going. In the end, stories were just that - stories. When things settled and sorted in the next few days, he'd have to meet Wolven face-to-face to see for himself what sort of man he really was. For now, it was time to retire. The evening was young, but it'd been a long journey here, and his room called. That was enough layout-mapping and information-gathering for now. * * * The room itself was small and quaint – the cheapest available. It had four walls, a double bolt-lock door, a bath, a small fireplace, and a bed. Perfect to unpack, wash up, and rest. Tomorrow, his first order of business would be to head to the armory to refine his blades. As he looked over them, laying both steel and silver sets out, he recalled one of his silver blades being licked earlier, by a little girl. Yes, licked. What. The. Hell. Kids these days. The fact that she even snuck under him to nab one was impressive. More impressive if she didn't get sick, with the lingering traces of sunfire oil sure to have been coated on it, having been applied along his magnificent trek here. Well, that coating was harmless to the living, he supposed. Lucky break. He'd have to keep an eye out for that girl, or any other kids hanging about, the sneaky bastards, and watch himself in this place. Maybe it was the region, maybe it was Wellspring Tavern itself, maybe it was the fact that the Darkmere's influence was growing, but from what he'd heard and seen so far, the inhabitants here were quirky as hell.

【 Where 】 Small, cheap room 【 What 】 Time to wash up and rest 【 Who 】 Alone
