Well Gardevoir does learn Teleport... and Misty Terrain. 

So I could imagine an alternate, more jovial Ryuuichi pulling that disappearing act off. 

Also being blind has its benefits. Ryuuichi is immune to Tilly! Ha! No charms can work on him!
