How did Besca always know what Quinn needed to hear most? Even Quinn hadn't known that she'd needed go hear it. Her question had been born of a desperate keening urge, but she hadn't really known what it was until Besca had responded. Bbut as she finally dissolved into soft, almost serene tears--so different from her usual frantic crying--the fact she had became quite evident. She didn't say anything for quite a while, and another long moment passed as she let some of her tension and fear and anxiety leak out with her tears. It eventually petered off, leeaving the phone call in silence. The fear that Besca would one day determine that she simply caused too many problems was something that often dogged her idle thoughts, espeecially after arriving in Casoban, and it was never fun. So having her specifically address that to deny it was something that she truly hadn't known she'd been in desperate need of. She gently closed her eye, feeeling the last of the tears she'd struggled so hard today to keep locked inside beading on her eyelashes. For the first time since she'd come down in the elevator, she found herself managing to, for an unspeakably precious moment, relax. Besca always did that too. Her presence, even over just the phone, was always enough to make Quinn feel way better, even when she was in her worst breakdowns. She was just...the best. What else could really be said about her? The pregnant silence broke with a sudden sniffle as shhe scrubbed her eye with the back of her hand to get rid of those clinging tears with a soft groan and another sniffle. Which was followed in immediate time by a thick, tear-stained laugh, fraught but genuine. "I have the best family ever."
