"Magic... While Pokemon have always had some sort of connection with the arcane, few had the ability to truely harness its power. Sure, a Charmander could breath fire and a Shinx could generate great bolts of lightning, but these were always physical, mundane reactions understood by common physics. To wield the power of the arcane would be to have some manipulation over physics, to allow ones self to preform feats understood not even by the scholars of their time. But then... Something awoke... Known as the great arcane awakening, Pokemon all over the world became enlightened to great magical power. As if waking up from a deep slumber, the arcane energy latent in all beings came to the surface. Society practically changed overnight, with guilds sending out their brightest and strongest to investigate this phenomenon. But none were as successful as a certain Sylveon... Named Evilane, she was one of the original few who possessed arcane ability from before the awakening. She formed a guild dedicated to serving others in all manner of magic. Known as 'Academie de Evilane', she found great success in her time. Her name was an incredibly powerful one and word of her exploits were known across the land. Though there was a great danger to be found in the magic that was now prevalent in this world... There was also great potential. Her academy was a safe haven from the threats of the world and her paladins were a force of peace. Other guilds flocked to her for all matters. Little did she know, with the arcane, more than just the Pokemon would change... 50 years after the great awakening, technology had greatly evolved alongside magic. Great magitek machines powered by the arcane filled the streets. The technological revolution brought on great change, and while some guilds were forgotten, Academie de Evilane flourished more than ever. Her success allowed her to fund further research into the capabilities of magic. She learned that certain beings with enough arcane power had increased lifespans, and thanks to her fae countenance as a Sylveon, she used her renewed youth to further grow her academy. The organization had spread across the world, having been the single most successful magic organization on the planet. She had greatly influenced the magitek revolution and was partly responsible for great developments in many sectors, societal, technological, and economical. However, with great change comes new problems. Despite developments, there are those who wish to use their power for evil. Beings who terrorize others for their own gain with little care for the repercussions their actions have on others. While the guilds of old try to bring peace to the land and enlist the help of the good and valiant, the evil in the land had only grown. Evilane was certainly not blind to this. That's where you come in! Having been recruited by her academy, you act as a team dedicated to protecting the innocent and vanquishing evil! Supplied with technological innovations and arcane know-how, either a member another guild or an independent unit, you will work together as a task force, helping the academy with helping those who beg for her assistance. In this way, the academy is no different to a traditional rescue guild. May you find success in your endeavours..." Hey there! I've never really done this before so I can't say this is perfect, but I've never really seen anything like this on the website so I figured why not make one myself? It's very much an original creation of mine and I'm hoping the synopsis was enough to give an idea of what we're doing. Basically, you're going to be a Pokemon(either one or two, up to you really) who's been contracted by the headmistress of Academie de Evilane to help take on contracts and work as a team with others to vanquish evil warlocks, rescue those who are in trouble, and generally do all the things a rescue team does. All 1028 pokemon are allowed, as well as fakemon if you can give enough information on them. Regional variants are also allowed if you can give me enough info on the land they're from. This is a broad and vast departure from typical Pokemon, even Mystery Dungeon, but I'm hoping this proves interesting enough to folks! A sci-fi fantasy with emphasis on magic and magic-infused technology set in the Pokemon world isn't something I've seen and I'm hoping I can be a good enough GM for this! I want this to be somewhat lighthearted, but stuff like violence and mild graphic content will be present. It's not enough to warrant a 18+ rating but it's certainly not going to be suitable for a younger audience. Think slightly higher than Star-Trek levels of graphic content.
Character sheet: Personal details Name(Can be a nickname): Pokemon species(custom or otherwise): Type(Due to the arcane awakening and other factors, a Pokemon's type may be different than what is typical for their species): Gender(I can't come up with something witty lol): Mage class(Are they a pyromancer? Do they use brute force coupled with arcane enhancements? Are they an arcane gunslinger? Be creative!): Spells/Moves(What can your character do on the field, either in or out of battle?): Specialty(How are they going to assist the team? Which role do they play? Are they a healer/support type? Are they a front-line brawler? Are they a back line ranger?): Allegiance(Which sort of place do they come from? Are they associated with a guild, or an independent? Were they an academy student who was chosen to assist for their excellence?): Alignment(Think D&D, if you know that. Is your character a lawful evil who's just in it for the money? Are they a chaotic good who means well but generally doesn't think anything through? Are they a true neutral who simply does it because they got nothing better to do?): Proficiencies(Does your character have any special skills? Do they have any unique knowledge or special skills that wouldn't directly be considered a move? Can they pick locks, walk on water/lava, sweet talk shopkeepers?): Equipment details Weapon(Are they equipped with a staff? Are they a cloak and dagger fighter? Do they use a bow? A gun? You can have multiple, if you wish): Outfit(Are they dressed in typical mage robes? Do they wear shining armour? Are they dressed in a military garb with a tactical vest?): Special equipment(Do they have any special gear? Do they have a special visor that helps them see things others can't? Do they have boots that increase agility?): Consumables(Stuff like potions, reviver seeds, magical orbs, et-cetera. You can always gain more, if it's warranted! Dungeons have loot, if you think you're tough enough.) Bonus(Optional) Appearance(What do they look like that sets them apart from others of their species? Are they a grizzled veteran who's fought many fights before? Are they a pristine and well kept kind who hates getting dirty?): Personality("Me mum claims I'm full of personality and I'm not sure if she be complimenting me or not."): If you want to add anything else to your sheet, feel free to! This is just a baseline, you don't need to use it if you don't want to. Just need enough info on your character. This is very free form, after all!
And here's an example of the character I'll be using! I *could* give Evilane a character sheet, but she's not going to be involved in the plot outside of being a questgiver.
Character sheet: Personal details Name: Codename: Eisenblatt. Real name: Lewis. Pokemon species: Cybernetically Augmented Leafeon. Bipedal. Type: Steel/Grass Gender: Male Mage class: Arcane Knight Spells/Moves: Rushing Cleave(The user prepares their broadsword and rushes at the enemy, aiming to strike them. Decreases defence for a turn, [Steel type]), Pulse Blast(The user takes out their arcane blaster and fires at the enemy, type depends on secondary typing), Acclimate(user switches between modes, from a more defensive 'bunker' mode to a more offensive 'rush' mode[Normal Type]), Ally Guard(User takes damage intended to strike an ally, protecting them[Normal Type]), Magic Absorb(User absorbs the magic that last hit him, changing his secondary type to match the type of the magic. However, this weakens him for a turn.[Psychic Type]) Specialty: Variable, Frontline Tank. Allegiance: Former engineer for NanoCorp Industries(a large technology corporation in partnership with the Academy), now self proclaimed 'defender of the innocent' Alignment: Lawful Good. Proficiencies: Improvised crafting(From his time as an engineer, Lewis knows how to make do with what he has. While he's not so good at improvising under pressure, when he's not in combat he can create useful objects from scrap on the field), Last Stand(When he's close to fainting, he can utilize a cocktail of physically enhancing potions to give himself one last push, temporarily boosting stats but fainting him after a few turns. Recharges after each long rest.) "Nobody dies today!"(When an ally is to take fatal damage, if Lewis is near, he attempts to take that damage instead. However, he cannot save an ally from AOE damage) Equipment details Weapon: Arcane Blaster(The Arcane Blaster is a peculiar device. It consists of a sleek cylindrical body of a chrome metal that tapers towards the end of the barrel and ends with a sort of brass sphere with a glimmering crystal at the end which hums with energy. The handle appears to have been designed after a sort of knuckle duster, allowing one to bash their enemies when they are too close to get a proper shot off.) Runic Broadsword(The broadsword is a rather large sword, having a single cutting edge in a blue metal. The main body of the sword is designed to block attacks and is a brass-colour inscribed with various runes having meanings such as 'attack' and 'defend' and 'protect'. The handle is wrapped in a blue leather and the guard designed to resemble an Aegislash. In gold, an inscription near the base of the blade reads 'To Eisenblatt, may you remain vigilant') Outfit: Lewis wears a suit of sleek white armour with a trinity of three glowing 'cores' in the centre. The panels are angled in such a way to easily deflect ranged attacks but remain compact. Between the armour plates is a faint glow matching the colour of the cores, which changes based on his current typing. They are normally a verdant green, but if he were to use magic absorb, it would change to match the secondary typing. His helmet has a wing on either side, below his ears. His snout is often visible and his eyes are obscured by a visor which can vaguely be seen displaying tactical data on the battlefield. On his back lays a magnetic mount for his sword which it rests on and on his side his blaster is holstered. The left leg of his armour is designed slightly differently to the left and seems to fit a more mechanical design for some reason. Special equipment: The aforementioned armour, referred to as a 'Nanosuit', protects Lewis from damage. Stimulant injector. A cocktail of beneficial potions, this injector can help Lewis push past his natural limits and overcome any damage his body has taken. Unfortunately, forcing the body into a form of overdrive generally proves dangerous and will lead to him taking twice as much damage, though the effect of the damage will only land two turns after injection. Consumables: Ration packs(Lewis carries enough rations to feed himself for a month, or a small group for a week. While not awful, they would lead one wanting more). Escape orbs, 3(Allows the user and any teammates who agree to escape the dungeon.) Elixirs, 5(Fully restores mana, allowing a magic user to continue fighting.) Bonus(Optional) Appearance: When in his armour, Lewis is a formidable force, something that would make his allies glad he's on their side and his enemies think twice about fighting him. He carries a gruff expression while on duty and stands strong. However, when out of his armour, he wears a black labcoat from his days at NanoCorp and a belt carrying various implements, such as tools and a flask of oran berry gin. His left leg, though he makes attempts to hide it, is mechanical. While he generally feels some shame for his cybernetic leg, he may show his 'war wound' to people if they are curious enough about it. His left eye is also mechanical and he has some rippled scarring on his left torso, though not visible under most circumstances. A combination of old burn and jagged slashing scars are barely visible on his face, often being hidden by his visor, which he wears even without armour as an attempt to hide his cybernetically enhanced eye. His snout is somewhat short and square-ish, similar to a boxer dog. He's somewhat muscular but not overly so. His fur is a verdant green, though some parts are a more faded green, such as around his scar tissue. Personality: While he can be gruff and commanding at times, Lewis is generally kind and caring. He has a lot of experience with combat and isn't afraid to give some lessons to fledgling fighters in his spare time. He has a great love of ensuring people are safe, even if he's never met them. Unfortunately, he's not so good with teamwork. Though a brilliant inventor, he's more accustomed to taking charge and doesn't take orders or even suggestions very easily. He's somewhat headstrong and doesn't take criticism very well. Despite his outwardly strong and clever appearance, he's secretly terrified of losing the people he cares about. For that reason, he left his job at Nanocorp in order to pursue a career as a wandering rescue team. He usually completes contracts on his own, but occasionally will join a group who could use a knight. Overall, he's kind but headstrong and can be prone to rash acts if he gets too excited.
