She is gonna be vastly different from her (soon to be) Trainer in many ways. 

And yea, Ryuuichi would know the basics about how to use his cane, but he is also really bad at it thanks to his shut in lifestyle. Aside from the practice he did during his rehabilitation, he never actually went out all that much once he was allowed to go back home. He's only ever really been to his doctor's in the past two years after his physical rehab and during those times his ([s]perhaps somewhat too overprotective[/s]) took him there directly. 

As such, he tends to just kinda use Tapping alot. He might Sweep every now and again, but he mostly just taps since he is... very paranoid about hitting anybody or anything. Even if using that method given the situation might be the wrong one and might put him in more danger given the lack of appropriate information.
