[/quote] You seem to have misunderstood my point; The Utility offered by it - seperate from the combat capacity I spoke about seperately - is on par with a Find Familiar spell. The ability to speak to it, "possess" it, etc. These offer utility options for exploration in line with what you can accomplish with a familiar. It can be used to scout ahead, get an aerial view, search dangerous locations, activate traps, etc. And while they do level with you, their scaling is linear. My point wasn't that the subclass is bad; My point was that it's not broken, as is generally the concern when discussing whether or not to include third party content.
