Some quick backstory: When Mai was a 7 her family was killed in front of her. To suppress the memories her brain reverted to a time before they died, making her more of a child than most. She is quite innocent when it comes to things and is very curious about things she can't understand. Most other students think she is a freak because her mind works differently from them. Despite her happy appearance, she hates when people are mean and will say something when she sees cruel things going on, making people think she is even more annoying.
