The tornado came as a surprise to Ascot as much as it would have Xayama, and he was blown away, and, not having Aerial Recovery, landed flat on his back. Seeing the windblades whizzing above him, the boy decided that it was time to use Magic again, and cast Haste, getting up after that. His first instinct was to go to Amelia, checking her body for wounds.

"Are you all right, Amelia?" he spoke. After seeing that she was, the boy summoned Chocobo, telling him to guard the girl. Then, the boy looked around, assessing the situation. He saw Joshua and his new family confronting a wicked-looking man who seemed to rouse in Elyse fear, Joshua anger and disgust, and Rose maternal fury.

Then, he remembered that Lucus, Rose's ex-husband and persecutor of their family, was a Wind Mage. Everything clicked into place, causing fury to flood the boy, fury that was overwhelming. So this was the person who had traumatized Elyse and abused Rose, the people who had adopted him. Well, he was not going to allow him to cause any more pain.

Ascot ran up to stand beside Joshua and Xayama, flashing a smile towards the latter. Then, he faced Lucus, taking in the man's appearance, and hating the sight, due to the malice that lurked behind the man's conventionally handsome face. How could such an ordinary-looking man turn out to be such a nightmare? Clearing his mind of such thoughts, the boy drew his Keyblade, standing beside his family members and his crush.
