Bio: Gratus was born to an impoverished noble family. Their lands had been decimated by Gallic tribesmen and bandits leaving them with lots of titles but no land or money. Originally they were on shortlists for many a senate position however they then lacked the power to do anything and so their name slipped lower and lower down the lists. It was Antonus who would bring the Gratus name back to the forefront of noble business. He had always found the politics and business side of Rome to be to his liking and he had a natural talent for it. A family friend payed for him to be put through schooling by some of the finest tutors and then had him placed as the quaestor to a Sicilian governor. Over a period of 5 years he managed to double the revenue of the local land as well as place many of his friends into important positions within the governor's household. Very soon he found himself incredibly popular amongst the masses and with many friends who owed him favours. and begun embezzling money out of the funds the governor was giving him. After another 6 years he had saved up enough and quit working for the man. Finally buying himself the piece of land he had an eye on in Spain. There he grows vast amounts of grapes for wines as well as the crops for a number of small villages and a military camp on his lands.
