There's lots of counter-examples -- heck, remember that time Britain sailed up and down the coast of China, shooting cannonballs, because they wanted to stop buying pot? I don't think you wanna simplify it to 'Imperialism is awesome,' an empire is just an empire, the traits of which are independent of their expansionism. What I don't get is.... okay, so there's essentially two schools of thought, right. A, it so happens that European ancestors did something right (financially speaking at least), and their societies benefit from that history; or B, white people fucked up the world for brown people. What I don't get is, why is 'A' the racist one?
